Among all the "dark corners" of Greek mythology there is one I was always fascinated with: the "alternate Titans". Titans always fascinated me due to being obscure background characters yet of primordial importance... And then you consider how the list everybody knows is just Hesiod's, which is just one tradition (that even conflict with Homer's own perception of the Greek pantheon), just before you dig up and find all those fragments of alternate genealogies involving just as obscure Greek deities... Oh maybe Phorkys was the seventh Titan! Oh, maybe Dione was a Titanide! And there's the whole Eurynome business ; and what about Anytos, the mysterious caretaker of the equally mysterious Despoina?
I just love my alternate Titans, and something about "Phorkys and Dione might have been the seventh Titan couple" makes me vibrate with awe. It might not be historically accurate but it is such a poetic idea
