The sound of the oil drums collapsing echoed in the basement, muffled beneath his own screams and the vicious snarling of the dog before him. He leaped, great flaps of hanging skin bouncing as the great beast pounced on the struggling boy. He tried to block it but the creature dug its paws into his arms, clawing them away and tearing into his chest as though he was nothing more than a rooted garden planted. A great snout roughly jammed itself against his right eye, instinctively screwed shut in fear. The bright blue iris glossy with tears became the dog’s prime target, jaws parting and pink guns exposed as it bared yellowing teeth. A reading of the head back, then suddenly rushed down. Thin flesh was raked through by sharp canines. Joseph shrieked with some unfamiliar primal terror and anguish the likes of which he had never released before. Punching and kicking did nothing, as the muscular animal was too powerful and too heavy to be moved. And it would not stop at just one bite.

Teeth were accompanied by brutal paws slamming and digging into him, powerful legs pressing them down against his chest, threatening to crush his ribs. He gasped and wheezed, crying for help as he was mauled by the beast. For a moment, it all faded away. He went blissfully numb from shocked as rivers of red gushed down his faced, cascading down his cheeks with the tears and pooling at the back of his neck. It was a quickly expanding puddle, painting the tips of his filthy blonde hair and meeting drool at the corners of his lips as he froze. It was only a moment that went by of him unable to feel the teeth, smell the rancid breath from a dog fed only cuts of meat, or feel the weight crushing his chest and causing such a nausea that made his head spin. Then it came rushing back, and his vocal chords shredded themselves as he threw his head back and screamed as loud as his little lungs would let him. Neck bared, the animal went for the kill. It never came. His father grabbed it by the collar and pulled it back to stop it, praising it with such pride and excitement that he had never seen, much less experienced. All because of his sex.
