I just remembered, and I thought I should share this with you.
I walked by a double-merle puppy the other day. It was an Australian Shepherd, and I almost stopped in my tracks when I saw it.
Not because it was beautiful; it was a high-white double merle, and it was pretty damn beautiful, to be honest.
Not because it was being cute; it looked like it had no idea where it was going, as if its eyesight wasn't the best.
Oh, that might actually be it!
Because the thing that almost made me stop in my tracks was that this dog's eyes were tiny.
TINY.
They were at least half the size of what you'd expect to see in a large puppy. The eyelids were mostly slits, with an opening revealing only about a large marble-sized eyeball in each socket. I couldn't even tell if they were definitely blue, because all I saw was pink eye socket, and a little dot of color in the corner of each eye.

why
why are people breeding double-merles and giving their dogs horrible birth defects that will impair their life from the very start? WHY?
