I typed this out this morning, sobbed, and now I'm sharing it. So, in MAG 12 it is known that Gerry is dead. Gertrude didn't hide the fact he died but ☝️ it's never said if the rest of his body was ever cremated or buried.
It's most likely that after Gertrude mutilated his corpse, he was probably cremated and stored somewhere. There was no one there who could claim his body; his dad is dead, his mom was gone, he didn't really have any friends, and obviously, Gertrude didn't claim his body. His body was left in America with the book. He probably didn't even have good identification. It's said in MAG 12 that the only identification he had was an old passport. Who knows if he ever got a new one or a proper ID, he probably never had time for it.
He never got a proper funeral, no one really missed him. The only person that actually knew him was Gertrude and she obviously didn't mourn him. I personally don't think she deserved to mourn him.
When Jon burned him, not only was it freeing him, but it was putting him to rest. He actually got to learn and know Gerry, even if it was for a short period. He got to be laid to rest by someone who actually cared, someone who saw him for what Gerry was.
I wonder if there's like. A storage facility that has Gerry's stuff in it. He didnt have a lot to his name, nothing that he could move around. I wonder if Gertrude gathered his left over stuff and just.. stored it away. My main wonder is what happened to his paintings, he at least had one and he was called an amazing artist. Are they just.. sitting in a dark storage facility, collecting dust? Where no one gets to look at them, no one gets to appreciate them. His hard work, no matter if it's helping people or his artwork, doesn't get appreciation until the end.
Also.. because I think that Jon would of hung-up Gerry's paintings if he ever found them. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in Gertrude's storage room were Jon found that C4.. I bet, if he knew, he would have taken the paintings to his flat. They deserve to be in a museum, but since that wouldn't have been possible, at least Jon would appreciate them.
