Can these individuals survive Resident Evil?
So, after thinking about it for a long time, I've decided to make my own tier list about which Project 863 characters would survive Resident Evil? Not every single character from each season is here because they either only showed up one season, or I wanted to limit the amount since there were too many to simply place onto one post.
[SPOILERS DOWN BELOW]
Matthias has shown time and time again that even when he's scared, his curiosity is something driving him forward. He has great leadership skills. He's great at technology, even with the unfamiliar ones. The thing that draws him back, though, is his self-sacrificing nature. He cares more about the team and their safety that he dosen’t care what happens to him in those moments. Sure, he does jokingly mention that he's infected at times as if he wished he didn't want to do it, but he will always put the team first since he deems it his roll, both because he's the CEO and since he's the oldest in the project.
Although Samantha is known to not be able to handle stressful reality punching situations, for the reason that they cause her panic attacks. She's a strong, independent woman, Sam is strong. She's the rational one in the team, the motivator. She is highly inquisitive. She offers multiple solutions and ideas if a dilemma is going on. She definitely has the potential, especially considering she's the sassiest one in the squad.
Woodland does have a lot of potential. What makes me not rank him any higher is his temper and recklessness. The more upset he is, the more dumb decisions he does, like destroying the counteragent when secretly it was the antidote, now in his defence. He couldn't have known it was going to be useful to the team later on. However, it has been shown enough that his temper never does bring in positive results, and for that reason, he's placed in this section.
Bailey is a stand-in for Subject 4. Nevertheless, she stands greatly on her own as an employee and an ally to the cause. She has theories, she's hopeful, she's reasonable, level-headed, and she is average when it comes to what she can bring onto the team. It might not sound like a good thing, yet that is sufficient for her to see anathor day. You don't need to be a formidable person to have the need to live. As long as you have the resources and an excellent mindset, you'll be just fine.
Deborah Syphus is a difficult one for me to say because she's way too smart and aware of the timeliness to die a simple death. But at the same time, she's not meant for fighting. We do know that she's accidentally killed Wesley with a blank bullet, so at least she can use a gun, yet that dosen’t tell us much. I think she's capable of self-defense, that much is certain, so I'm leaving it as unclear, she'd most likely avoid confrontation as much as possible and be around people she knows can have her back.
Jim “John Doe” Colt does have a chance, I do believe that. If a rookie Leon Kennedy can survive through an apocalypse, then the undercover LAPD officer just might as well. He's all business, he's blunt, and a hardened detective. He does have an unintentional goofy side when saying certain things, although those moments are rare. I'd confidently say that if a coworker of his got infected by the T-virus and there was no Elpis to fix it, he wouldn't hesitate to get rid of the problem. This man knows when to save his personal feelings and focus on the objective.
Jasper Shaw, known for being the manipulative snake that he is, dosen’t stand much of a threat against the creatures that Umbrella has created. He may act above others and seem very confident in his abilities. However, when it comes down to it, he's all half show and all talk. He froze when Matthias's violent side effect of the serum kicked in. He was scared of him. He's not a fighter, nor much of a brave soul. Jasper is just a condescending man trying to take control of the whole situation. Having others do the job for him.
Arden Hunter may be good at double crossing folks, including blending in with the crowd, but he's not making it out alive. His plan on "recreating" Nelson didn't come to that point. He's too cocky. He revealed everything when he got caught by the team and got surprised brutaly killed. He even smirked when he died. He's one of the most maddest scientists I've ever read. It definitely made sense as to why Nelson Syphus would hire a researcher like him who has zero ethical morality, holy molly.
From what I've read and came to understand about the [Leon] Phantom is that he's very meek from the trauma he's received after being experimented on. However, in everyday life he does have practical skills, he's very useful, and under brainwashing, he can be quite terrifying. He's a trial patient turned engineer worker, Syntec employees realised that his brain is too precious to be kept as a subject. Nonetheless, surviving on his own in Resident Evil is a very slim chance, he's not that inquisitive, not to mention that he's pretty weak. Jim didn't have to yank on the car door that much, and he knocked him out cold instantly.
I do believe that B27 [Benjamin Cobalt] has a high chance of surviving because even when he's not brainwashed, he can be very much violent and capable. He's a scentist who knows how to make do with the situation he's in. Even when he's quick to anger, he can calm himself instantly. He has killed before, it was confirmed in the Redacted that he has ended up killing patients in his experiments, it's unsaid how, but with the way Syntec worked as a biotech company we can assume the worst. So I do believe he can get quite far.
There is a chance that Double X [Phantom Matthias] can survive, battle wise as a Phantom, we can't conduct how he would do. But what we can do is analyse Matthias himself and see what he has done under the influence of the serum. Like the other Phantoms, he's aggressive but far more sophisticated. He's talking in this soft, intelligent, low tone, as if Syphus is having fun playing this role. We also know that Matthias has a thing with knives. He practices with them and can do some tricks with different types. He can do pretty well against people in challenges, usually taking more than two people in order for him to lose. So I do believe that he could at least survive for a long while.
