Just remembered this sketch dump, based on one of my all time favourite books, Time Salvager (and the sequel, Time Siege) by Wesley Chu.
By the 26th century, technological progress has left the solar systemās resources depleted. The only chance humanity has to survive is in the pastā in the hands of the chronmen.
Chronmen travel back in time to salvage what they can, from doomed past events, without endangering the timeline. Without them, the already fragile society would collapse.
Rule number one? Never bring anyone back from the past.
