Gemini IV, 4 watches... Gemini V, 5 watches... US Naval aviator Charles "Pete" Conrad was selected in NASA's second astronaut group in September 1962 and when it was time to fly in space, he choose his personal Glycine Airman automatic pilot watch as backup time piece! The Glycine Airman can be spotted in Gemini V preflight training photos July 1965 onwards... the actual mission launched on August 21, 1965. MoonwatchUniverse already explained the learning curve of NASA time checks using Houston TX time, Cape Canaveral FL time, Alpha & Bravo time together with mission clocks onboard the Gemini spacecraft. During Gemini IV, both Ed White and JIm McDivitt wore a pair of Omega Speedmasters and on Gemini V Cooper choose to wear his personal Accutron Astronaut tuning fork wristwatch besides the NASA-issued Speedmaster. Also on Gemini V, besides 2 NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster chronographs, Conrad wore his personal Glycine Airman automatic pilot watch. Moreover, he also wore this automatic wristwatch on Gemini XI in September 1966. In this way, his trusty Glycine Airman GMT pilot watch accumulated 10 days 22 hours in space, of which 2 hours 45 minutes exposed to outer space during Gordon's EVAs! (Photo: NASA)
