If I can see Soma choosing to go down the same path as Mathias and seeking immortality by becoming a vampire, I feel like his reasoning for doing so would be completely different.

Reincarnation is a trope I really like in fanfic, and this idea refused to leave my brain until I drew something.

His name is Nick, and he’s an American combat medic.

Edit with lore: Nicolás “Nick” Peña was born in West Texas in 1920 to Alfonso and María Peña. He’s the oldest of three boys. His younger brothers are Ernesto and Guille. He enlisted in early 1942 and became a combat medic. He would encounter the Creature while evading capture by German soldiers, and he would patch the Creature up after he took a bullet to the shoulder. I need to brush up on my WWII history, but this is the gist of what I’ve got worked out!
