Rocky Cocodino

Arnie introduces this week's guest, Rocky Cocodino, a used horse salesman. He's brought a selection of horses with him, on the way to Night of Horses. One of them is magic, and has a backwards head due to a botched counter-spell. It's not really a riding horse. Another beast is missing a back leg. Used does not mean used-up. They just need to be upcycled a bit.

We stand alone

Two wild hearts, born to die

Two vivid souls, bound to dream

Down in the valleys

Our fire burned out long ago

The lights in our eyes swaying to and fro

But tell me love, is this really what you wanted?

Is this really what you dreamed, what you needed, what you hunted?

The stars are gone, the Light's burned out

The noises fade, the screams and shouts

That once had whistled, like violent steam

You write something you think is genius. You write your feelings. You read your feelings, and think that it’s not so bad. You start to think positively. 

Tonight, I did just that. I couldn’t find it in me to sleep, so I chose to write instead. This is Day 2, a poem about waiting. A poem about love. Lack of sleep makes a guest appearance. I hope you enjoy.

Day 2.

 I’m supposed to be asleep.

I’m supposed to be okay.

 But I miss you.

It’s only Day 2.

 Day 3 won’t be better.

Day 4, more than before.

 Day 5, things progress.

Day 6, only four more.

 Day four will be better.

Day three, more than before.

 And on Day One, I’ll see you.

The influence for this poem, like most others, was that “Just got in from a flight back home” feeling. I.E.: walking in the door to the ones you love; being at peace. I hope you all enjoy.

An Essay

I could write an essay on the past few years.

I could say some very stern things.

I could say nothing at all.

 But I won’t.

 Instead, I choose to write about today.

I choose to write about life, as it stands.

 As far as I’m concerned, it’s standing pretty tall.

It’s found its legs.

 It’s found its roots.

Family. Dreams. High school football.

Country music on a warm summer night.

 It’s found its dream.

Helping those ahead to be the best they can be.

A dream long forgotten.

 It’s found its home.

Late nights. Tacos.

Curling beside her when the day’s been too long.

 It’s found its joy.

In her eyes. Her smile. Her laugh.

The way her hair sits when it’s let down.

Long conversations on shorter nights.

When it comes to love,

I can’t hold my tongue.

8 Teams, 4 people per team, 32 people total

No team rehearsals will be permitted
