It felt like a long time since they had enjoyed anything close to a date night together. The world was always ending, Cassie was putting her life in danger and Hope was just genuinely bad at remembering to be the girlfriend and partner sometimes. Tonight, however, they were making an effort. It was almost too cold to be outside, leaving her bundled in one blanket and sitting on another with the damp grass almost pushing through.
“This was great in theory.” Hope pointed at the picnic basket with the bottom of her beer bottle. “Food, stars, no ants coming to the picnic. A little colder in reality.”
