Warnings: Heavy tension, suggestive themes, teasing, power play, implied intimacy, dominant/submissive undertones, fireplay elements.
Summary: A late-night encounter in the war room turns into a dangerous game of fire and control. As tension crackles between you and Nikolai, the question remains—how much heat can the King of Ravka handle?
Nikolai rested one elbow on the war table, regarding you with that perpetual smirk, his cold eyes shining like gold coins in candlelight. "You see, most men find it a bad notion to rile their king," he whispered, his voice as silky as a spider's web.
You moved closer, the hum of your power vibrating in the air between you. "Good thing I'm not most people," you panted, running your fingers up his chest, stopping just below his collar.
For once, he was the one who was left panting. "Saints," he panted, holding on to the table edge. "I think I enjoy being at your mercy."

Date
It was already 10:41 p.m., and there she was—still waiting for the love of her life, James Potter.
Even though she knew he wouldn’t show up, she still waited. Hoping. Maybe he was just running late. Maybe something had come up. But deep down, she knew the truth.
"I'd like a glass of water, please," she finally said.
The waitress gave her a sympathetic smile before walking away to get her drink.
By the time 11:30 p.m. rolled around, the restaurant had emptied out except for a few lingering customers. The waitress had already asked her several times if she wanted to order anything.
A few minutes later, the glass of water was placed in front of her. She quickly drank it and stood up.
"Thank you. How much for the water?" she asked.
The waitress shook her head gently. "Oh, no need. It’s just water. It’s fine."
She smiled at the waitress, murmured a quiet "thank you," and walked out.
The Astronomy Tower
That night, she tried to sleep. She really did. But her thoughts wouldn’t let her.
So, like always, she found herself walking toward the Astronomy Tower—the one place where she could clear her head.
She was just about to sit down when a voice interrupted the silence.
"Couldn't sleep either?"
Startled, she turned sharply, nearly slipping. But before she could fall, a hand caught her wrist, steadying her.
"Careful now," the voice said.
She looked up and met a pair of deep gray eyes. It was Regulus Black.
Up close, he was breathtaking. He was beautiful—almost ethereal, as if Merlin himself had carved him from stone.
Regulus cleared his throat. "You alright?"
She quickly stepped back, putting some distance between them. "Yeah," she muttered before sitting down.
Regulus sat beside her. Neither of them spoke. The night stretched on in silence, but it was a comforting kind of silence.
Avoidance
The next morning, she did everything she could to avoid James.
Funny, she thought to herself. The person she once clung to for dear life was now the one she was running from.
It was hard. Very hard.
They shared the same classes, the same school, and—perhaps worst of all—the same group of friends. But still, she tried.
By dinner, she had almost succeeded in keeping her distance. She was about to sit far from him when Remus called out.
"Hey, Y/N! We’re over here." He waved at her.
She sighed but forced a small smile as she walked toward them.
"Here’s your girl, Potter," Sirius teased, grinning.
"Yeah, mate," Remus added. "You’ve been complaining all day about missing her. Saying things like, 'Heya, Moony, how many hours until break?' or 'I miss her.'" He rolled his eyes playfully. "You do know it's a bit annoying sometimes, right?"
Peter laughed. The others joined in.
She cracked a small smile. But then, her gaze drifted to James.
And her heart sank.
Because he wasn’t looking at her.
He was looking at Lily.
Laughing.
Her mood soured instantly. Without a word, she got up and walked away. Her friends called after her, but she didn’t care.
Heartbreak
She found herself in the Astronomy Tower once again, hugging her knees to her chest as she sobbed silently.
She heard footsteps approaching but didn’t bother looking up.
"There you are—" the voice stopped mid-sentence. Then, softer, "Wait… Y/N, are you crying?"
She felt someone sit beside her. She didn’t look.
She already knew whose voice it was.
James.
"Bunny, what’s wrong?" His voice was filled with concern.
She flinched when he tried to hug her.
"Don’t," she said, her voice cracking.
James pulled back slightly, confused. Usually, when she was upset, she wanted him to hold her. But this time, she was pushing him away.
"Y/N, you’re scaring me. Talk to me, Bunny," he pleaded.
Still, she didn’t answer.
Then, in a whisper, she asked, "Why her?"
James blinked. "Bubs, what do you mean?"
"Don't act dumb, Potter," she muttered bitterly. Slowly, she lifted her gaze to meet his.
James looked completely caught off guard. "What…?"
"I know you want her. Not me," she said, smiling sadly.
James shook his head in panic. "No. No, no, no—oh, Y/N." He moved closer, his eyes wide with desperation. "That’s not true."
She let out a humorless laugh.
"Then why did you even go out with me?" she asked suddenly.
James froze.
For a long moment, he just stared at her, as if searching for the right words.
"James?" she called again, her voice softer this time.
He sighed. Then, quietly, he admitted,
"Because I promised you."
Y/N’s breath caught in her throat.
"What?"
James ran a hand through his hair, exhaling shakily. "I promised you when we were little. I told you that you would be my love, that one day, I’d marry you and start a family with you."
She was too stunned to speak.
James looked away, his voice raw with emotion. "How could I forget? It was your birthday. No one showed up except me. How could I forget the way you looked at me when I made that promise?"
Y/N turned away, her chest tightening.
She stood up.
"James…" she whispered. "It’s best if we don’t see each other for a while."

(P.S this is a draft a few months ago, I'm still very busy with school so I might just post drafts ^^)
It had been a month since Calum had last seen Y/n. He missed her dearly, but he knew that it was for the best.
Y/n had been acting strange lately, and Calum wasn't sure what to make of it. He had tried to talk to her about it, but Y/n always seemed like she didn't want to talk about it.
Calum was starting to get really worried about her. He didn't know what he would do if anything happened to Y/n.
He missed the way Y/n would smile at him, or the way her eyes would light up when they talked together. He even missed the way Y/n would hug and kiss him at the most random times.
He just wanted everything back to the way it was before. But he knew that was never going to happen.
