👋 Hi there! Saw a post on TIGSource about The Wholesome Competition when logging into Steam the other day and what can I say. I can definitely get onboard with spreading some soothing energies.
My entry into the competition will be a wholesome version of Snake, named friendly noodle. friendly noodle: a snake who eats fruit and befriends mice. I'm imagining a 3D game with pixel art, coded in React.
Right now, the month of October is looking pretty rough and am not sure how far I'll be able to go, but am looking forward to learning a lot and making this first game on my own. I haven’t worked with Redux before, and I’m looking forward to working with it. My experience with game development has mostly been in Unity, which is a game engine with which I’ve found powerful and baffling at times to work, with the duality of the editor and written code. For the purpose of friendly noodle though, I don’t think Unity is necessary and I’m excited to see how performant React will be :-)
Other parts of the game dev that I’m looking forward to is creating the art and overall atmosphere of the game. My goal is to have a working game by the end of the month and to share a little bit everyday of what I’ve done. Looking forward to seeing what other folks will come up with, too.
