The U.S. has no federal law on big cat ownership: In many states it's easier to buy a tiger for your backyard than it is to adopt a rescue dog or cat. This new law would would prohibit owning big cats as pets. It would also prohibit hands-on public contact with cubs that drives constant breeding for roadside zoos that use #tiger #cubs for bottle feeding, petting and #photo ops. Cubs are pulled from their mothers at birth; most are dumped or disappear when they're too big to pet at 12 weeks old: it’s the dark underbelly of hands-on #wildlife#tourist #attractions. Many are nonprofits, posing as #rescues or sanctuaries but not meeting the criteria. Breeding for roadside zoos isn't conservation: Not one captive-bred tiger has ever been successfully released into the wild!
