Gem OC ‘story’ Ramble Ahead. I’m just going to skip in order of events I guess? I didn’t really talk about the gems individually but I can hit on them more if you want orz... hope this isn’t too boring.
So somewhere along the line some unnamed gem that I want to create/adopt ends up getting a decent amount of power. That gem more or less ends up controlling their own little industry where they employ gems to do jobs such as entertain, get things ready for diamonds, survey planets for goods that might help gem culture, and overall are just about improving efficiencies. They’re super strict about who works for them however. They’re known to think they’re just as good as a diamond and will shatter gems who they find too full of flaws. These leftovers are gladly given to gem scientists for whatever. Ass kissing is def a thing that will keep you alive around this one.
This gem (who we will refer to as boss from now on) eventually gets their hands on a collection of four pearls. They want to use these pearls not only as a symbol of status but also as productive members of the little business going on. Since the pearls were so eager to serve early on, it was easy to get them adjusted to how they worked. Making the pearls actually good at what boss wanted them to do is a whole other story. They were often poofed while learning their spots in the business and they all eventually started to try to perfect their look.
All the pearls ended up focusing mostly on making music and were numbered in order of their skills. Soon enough the mistakes became more and more obvious until only one was left. Blue Pearl (or just Pearl because fuck I ain’t gonna write that every time) was smart enough to not get the spotlight but not bad enough to get the limelight either. When she was the only one left, she actually started to get a lot more praise. Her mistakes were more present but being the last pearl left also gave her some insurance as destroying her would make the boss look worse. Sadly this gained her favor. She became a snob but still enjoyed what she taught herself to do.
Somewhere along the lines boss ends up employing Afghanite (before the destruction of the pearls). She was someone who always used to come to the shows and gave valuable input on the shows. The boss admired that and figured that she’d be a good addition to the team. Afghanite became more of a handmaiden to the boss but often reviewed many things going on. She had an eye to catch things that were off and often saved gems from being shattered while she was able to point out some good in the performances or jobs.
Afghanite always thought that the pearls (and Pearl) were taking things far too seriously. She’d never state that to their face and grew rather disheartened as she was around to see the second to last shattered. Despite her best effort, it didn’t matter for a lot of gems in the end. At the same time she didn’t care that much that they were being destroyed. This job was one of the easier ones she had and it let her get close to someone with some influence. She got along with the boss on most things and had a lot of similar tastes. This lead her to even bossing around Pearl, gaining more favor of the boss.
It wasn’t until sometime before the rebellion started (or very early on) that Pearl and Afghanite were sent to Earth. Afghanite was instructed to find a venue for gems to relax, find anything worth salvaging, and a place where the shows could continue. Anything the business needed. She was excited to once again be in charge of decorating a small chunk of the planet before it would ultimately be added to Homeworld’s power. Pearl was not excited to have to listen to Afghanite. The two butted heads up until they both realized they had a similar goal: they wanted to just look good at what they were told to do. A small alliance was gained here as they finally found a spot. Unfortunately for them they’d be one of the early victims poofed in the rebellion. Neither of them are able to fight and fleeing did no good (as did stating what could happen if they were hurt).
Hearing of the rebellion, the boss isn’t very happy and wants to know what happened to their people. No answer is given so they do their best to try and get an answer of their own. They go to the diamonds and propose creating another Rose Quartz to help infiltrate the Crystal Gems. Get them to be as close to the Rose they’re fighting and that they can help. It is an accepted offer and a Rose Quartz is created. The boss does their best to try and make this gem just like the rebellion’s but loyal to the Diamonds. My Rose Quartz is sent to earth alongside the boss.
Upon landing on the planet, Rose goes out of her way to try and find the Crystal Gems. At first she is able to get along with members who aren’t as close to the real rebellion leader including a Green Calcite. What she hears from this particular one makes her sick since it admits to just being afraid. Calcite had run away from homeworld upon hearing about the rebellion and abandoning its duties to the diamonds (as it was something that helped clear up planets). As Rose tries to get more and more crystal gems under her own command, a fight breaks out. She doesn’t know who to fight and upon getting her weapon it is revealed she isn’t the real Rose. It doesn’t take long for her to be poofed despite her being purely a soldier and taking many out with her.
In an effort to try and gain some favor -out of habit and fear-, Calcite picks up and bubbles Rose’s gem but not before taking a lot of damage in the fight. Calcite does their best to try and get out of it and not fight before the bubble is eventually lost. Fearing for their own life, they run for the hills. Once they find a suitable hiding place they poof themself in order to try and avoid the rebellion at all costs.
The boss’s failure is heard of shortly after Rose’s defeat. They are not please and it doesn’t take long for one of the diamonds to find out. In order to try and please the diamonds, the boss offers to go and quell some of the rebellion themselves. The diamonds don’t really care so they go ahead and do that. They end up becoming corrupted. Later on, they will be one of the monsters contained by the Crystal Gems.
Hundreds of years passed before Pearl and Afghanite ended up reforming. I imagine they both reformed around when Greek/Rome were major influences. They were scared by what was going on and where all these aliens came from. Some thought they were gods and they went with it for a bit. The two were separated at first. Pearl found herself gaining attention for her musical skill while Afghanite for more reasoning and pottery skills. It didn’t take them too long before they met one another and started bickering. They complained about the humans before agreeing to stay together. They were the only others they really knew and even if they were being treated like gods, it was annoying. For Pearl it was even worse for the fact she was being shoved down by Afghanite for just being a pearl. Needless to say they were found to be frauds after a while.
Time continues on and they pretty much get kicked out wherever they are. The two continue to learn about each other and their side of the story. This leads to frustrations on both ends. Each one thinks they have it worse than the other before they realize once again they are in it for the same thing. They’re obsessed with pleasing the boss and the satisfaction of a good show. They want to prove they’re good at what they do to everyone not just the boss. Eventually they start wondering if they’ll ever get home. This is when they realize they should probably combine their talents. They still need a show for when they’re saved.
On one journey, Afghanite finds a very particular looking gem laying on the ground. She had planned on using it for jewelry and did so. The Angel Quartz gem was sloppily put on a hair clip. One day it ended up reforming as a chameleon on her head, launching its tongue at pearl immediately. Pearl was not impressed and it brought confusion to the two. They had no idea where this ‘earth animal’ came from despite being a game. The star motif on it reminded them of something but they didn’t think anything of it. If anything, this little creature ended up being more of a benefit despite being a problem with its constant swallowing of things.
Afghanite and Pearl continue on their journey, enjoying some of the technology that humans create. They do their best to incorporate it into their ever changing show and venue. Come the time of the show, Pearl is very interested in more ‘modern music’ and trying to make it elegant (So electronic music and such plus instruments through the ages they had never seen). Afghanite is still very interested in floral arrangement and art in general (whether it be movies, pottery, painting, digital, etc.). All they want to do is show their boss that they’ve been waiting on forever is that they are still very worth it and they believe the boss will come.
In Calcite’s travels, he (because they decided to go with those pronouns) ends up finding these two. The journey he has taken has taught him a lot of appreciation for human culture and he enjoys just being around the humans in general despite being told how bad he looks. He’s excited to see gems still around and tries to ask about the rebellion. He sort of knows what has happened but these two only talk about their boss. Calcite tries to ask two why they’re so stuck on going home only to be ridiculed. He decides to leave them alone but check on them from time to time just in case they cause trouble (not that he’d help anyway XD).
Rose Quartz ended up reforming sometime during the rebellion and still fought against the Crystal Gems. She became rogue and listened to no one and only thought of destroying her counterpart. Her gem was poofed over and over again until she gave up. One of the fights was even against her counterpart who she was furious at (and didn’t understand why she kept losing). She went into hiding as well but figured with the way the rebellion was going, perhaps a long waited attack might be best. With hundreds of years passing, she tried her best to learn from humanity who were quite interesting with their techniques. She could fit in well enough and those that did oppose her were quickly shut down.
The advancement of warfare for Rose Quartz made her bored. She enjoyed the battles where gems fought one on one rather than with guns. And with the remaining Crystal Gems probably still around, she figured she might as well keep her search up. Eventually she took ran into Pearl and Afghanite. She found out they all worked for the same boss and informed the duo that he was still on Earth as far as she knew. With a little coaxing, the three of them (and Angel Quartz) decided to join up in an effort to actually try to find him.
Rose doesn’t much care for the other two or the animal. She does acknowledge that Afghanite and Pearl seem to get along too well (especially since one is a pearl). They don’t see the problem since they view themselves all with the same goal. Pearl and Afghanite even propose that in order to save Rose Quartz from being destroyed that she show what she has learned and how many gems she did slay.
Meanwhile Calcite just continues to wander around, following these guys. He isn’t happy to see that Rose with the group but Rose doesn’t seem to remember him. He more or less tries to become the conscious of the group (who is hardly there) to get them to stop their fruitless search. The boss may or may not be found.
But that’s the story in short. I don’t have weapons or anything figured out for everyone. I’ve stated what Calcite can do (slingshot) and I’ve decided Pearl has a flute weapon. The rest is all a work in progress. I’d talk about each gem individually but this is already hella long.

Hey, no worries about it. I mean, life's short XD We don't see eye to eye, we have different opinions, and I'm not going to burn myself out over his stuff. Let him have his fun, I wish him success. No point in hating over it. Or to have a comment war when I just want to comment on his thing (because that always ends up even if I just praise XD). I'm glad he's hopefully having fun with his project. I kinda hate that he asked me for so much input for the deku ones he made then tossed me aside. I had fun helping him. I think he's being kinda silly for putting so much story into a total war game. I don't think the Zelda series makes a good rts. But whatever. It ain't my right to judge, apparently some people like it, and apparently he thinks it is his ticket to getting noticed. I feel like perhaps he should try doing something innovative like many new games have done (mostly indie and portal XD) to get noticed. But yeahh. No need for hate or debate. Jeezeeeeeeeeeeee. Jesse, I feel like I'm trying to quote you or something.
