#tidbit time

A representative’s tome is a symbol of their status and responsibilities and acts as a sort of partner in their roles as representatives.

Each representative’s tome is different in shape and size and, as it is made with an ancient magical runestone that corresponds to their flight, somewhat alive. They can change according to their owner’s wishes (i.e. changing the layout of the pages, switching pages around for a specific order, making the ink appear and disappear if its confidential, change their exterior design etc.) and are able to seal themselves closed if need be.

Ausha’s necklace was a gift from Dak early on in their courtship. They’d just fought themselves out of a rough spot and had been attempting to get some much needed rest. It’d been a long day, tempers were rising, nerves were fraying and both guardians just needed some space. 

In an attempt to calm himself down, Dak began to make, well, at the time he wasn’t sure what it was, with the extra materials he happened to have on him. Before they’d gotten close, Ausha had taught him how to make things similar to what she wore when he’d asked out of curiosity. When it turned into a birdskull necklace, he thought it would be nice for her to have, since she’d told him that her old one had gotten lost, even if it was the wrong color and not made very well.

Cautiously, he approached her and asked if he could give her something. Ausha, who had been ready for another argument, felt the harsh words on the tip of her tongue die at his shy question. Curious, she’d nodded, before gasping when he’d presented the necklace to her.

“I know it’s not really good, but,” he’d said, “I hope you’ll accept it. It’s a peace offering, of sorts, because I don’t like when we argue, and well, I know it’s hard to reign in our tempers sometimes, but maybe this can be a reminder that getting angry so quickly will get us nowhere.”

Ausha had grinned, nuzzled her not quite mate, not yet, and thanked him profusely for the wonderful gift.

I swear I will talk about other OCs and their worlds too someday! But for now here is some more Under the Ego bc I forgot to explain this last time~

In my drawings of Ethan, he can be seen wearing a medical mask and gloves. This isn’t only because he has a poor immune system and likes cleanliness, it’s also a placebo effect. 

He hates being corrupted by Grim, and since the mouth and hands are where the shadow powers focus the most physically, he thinks maybe it helps suppress them. It doesn’t, but that’s why it’s a placebo, and he gets extremely uncomfortable if he has them off for too long. Of course, he changes the mask and gloves often and if he gets blood on them or whatevs!

Other reasons why he wears them are also due to spoilery events from his past but!! Not rn!! !

Tidbit That May or May Not Fall on a Tuesday Time! :D

This guy ^^^ (and these other people) are from my original story unofficially titled “Under the Ego” (a reference to a theory in psychology on people having a type of “shadow” self, it’s a bunch of humbo jumbo that I still need to do more research on, but I’m pretty sure this story will be based upon that idea!).

Anyways, consider this your introduction to this angsty world I’ve created! The story will follow Ethan Stephan Winslow (picture above all edge-like) and Sally Paulina Hyland as they expose a conspiracy involving using people and their “shadows” as military weapons. This story is very much a WIP so keep in mind I’m still figuring out basic plot arcs and character roles LOL..

In the UtE world, everybody is born with a shadow. Manifesting itself as a physical, potentially harmful being, however, isn’t guaranteed; the most common way to get “corrupted” by your shadow is to undergo an extremely traumatizing experience. People who don’t can live a normal life and never interact with their shadow; people who do must keep it a secret if they want to keep their freedom, since shadow people are seen as extremely dangerous and unpredictable monsters. If you are found out, you are taken to one of many different military bases scattered throughout the world. If you resist, you are either killed without hesitation or taken by force (depends on who you are and what you possess). It’s been labelled as taboo to talk about and acknowledge shadow people and the way they’re treated.

I’m still trying to figure out how exactly the shadow powers work, as of now I picture them as a sort of extension of the limbs and probably an extreme strength and speed boost when in use and especially during combat.
