I’m not getting very far on IDs– the right adult I’m fairly confident is Tibicen canicularis, the dog-day cicada, but the other two are thwarting my searches. My Marshall book doesn’t have anything like them! The central cicada was my first to be found before emergence. I was hoping to get it pinned halfway through its emergence, but my finding it unfortunately landed late on the night before my first day of classes of my senior year of college. I waited for a couple of hours on it but had to call it quits.

“Hartley,” Harrison smiled, knowing Hartley would accept it as genuine. There was something naive about the other man; certainly Hartley was a genius, visionary even, and his ability to stay one step ahead had managed to keep Wells both surprised and entertained so far. Still, he by far had the upper hand and he couldn’t help but be almost amused by how relatively easy it had been to appeal to Hartley’s romantic side, and especially to his desperate need to be loved. Of course he knew the threat Hartley was capable of posing, and of course he knew not to underestimate him, but the goal was to neutralize the threat all together. He was positive that, were he able to truly confide in Hartley, he would have appreciated the thoroughness of his scheme. Of course I’m going to replace you, he thought, you’re hardly useful for me like this. It was nearly pathetic, and it was almost sad to to see the insecure puppy dog looks Hartley would give him, he almost wanted to challenge the other man to push more. Instead, he reached for Hartley’s hand, letting their fingertips just slightly brush against each other as he leaned in, “How could I possibly replace you?”
