What is a spoonie? Spoon theory came about when Christine Miserandino was in a restaurant, explaining to her friend what it felt like to have Lupus. She grabbed spoons from the nearby tables to act as a visual aid and long story, short; when you have a disability or chronic illness you often have a limited supply of energy to spend on the everyday things other people take for granted. You have to ration these units of energy, or spoons, to get through the day. When you run out of spoons, sometimes you have to borrow from the next day's ration...but you pay for it. . As a self-confessed spoonie, I made these to remind myself to take it a little easier! . This series of jewellery features Tibetan silver spoon charms plus other cutlery, if that's your preference. They’re available as a necklace or earrings. . The spoon necklace measures 42cm and earrings 5cm. The knife & fork earrings are 4cm. The necklace size can be adjusted to suit you. .
