Working on another one because I would love for Colin to have a competitive frenemy. 

These are Tiberts. As of right now the only criteria for a Tibert is that they’re taller than Gybs and generally slender and human like. They also belong to a culture surrounding Doc Doc.

The criteria for that is fancier clothes and snooty attitudes.

Doc Doc is used to re-enact a renound folk tale in which a Gyb Wink makes the wheat dance to scare away a monster. The tiberts dance, while two of their chosen proteges play the role of the Gyb Wink's feet. A lucky stray is allowed to play the wheat kernel.

I worked on the gybs, now I’d like to work on the upperclass.

I've been thinking about what they’re going to be like. I want them to be tall, thin and terribly proper, but I want a little more than that, too. I also needed a way to maintain their numbers since nobody in the Cat’s Way breeds.

So, I gave them a martial art!

It's a home grown style of stick fighting. The sticks are meant to represent wheat awns that get stuck in tender cat feet and have a deserving reputation for being awful. 

The awn gives the art its 'bite', but I'm thinking the story behind it comes from a folktale about a cat who foiled a monster by making the wheat dance.

It isn't based on any kind of existing martial art. I picked a weapon, now I'll start from scratch and create my own.

Here's a short guide to the core types of anthromorphic cats encountered in the Cats Way. Each name is a catch-all word that encompasses a generalized group of individuals based on how many Sparks they have acquired.

Stray - No sparks. A standard domestic cat. It could have lived anywhere when it was alive, but once it passes on to the Cats Way it's a Stray.

Gybs - One spark. Gybs don't get much taller than three feet. They share a strong association with agriculture and food, and are more likely to keep ties with Strays.

Tiberts - More than one spark, but less than a hoard. Because Tiberts have the opportunity to get more involved with politics and trade, they often are. They're adventurous and enjoy wealth.
