Oh please allow me to elaborate, since I’ve quite researched this matter a bit I might have some insight to share.

Our chaos manipulating powers mostly come from being attuned to the Master Emerald but it’s not quite as simple as that. Due to the nature of chaotic energy it can be a rather unstable energy to deal with, some individuals are more sensitive to these energies than others, and there’s really no telling how it could affect each individual on a biological sense or even ability wise. This is why even though we all have chaos abilities we are able to manipulate it in different ways and even have our on ways of channeling that energy. 

Grandfather Spectre for example, in his young adulthood he experienced an incident in which his body absorbed really high levels of chaos energy directly from the Master Emerald. 

As a result of this near death experience he noticed that his skin had darkened and had began producing clouds of his essence as well as becoming a lot more sensitive to chaos energy. This leads him to have near omniscience and a greater command of chaos force which allows him to do incredible things such as teleportation with the use of the chaos force. I’ll also add that our family lineage are a bit of an anomaly when it comes to us drawing energy from the Master Emerald in comparison to the rest of the populace. Since our family has years of research and exposure to these energies it’s a factor that is ingrained in our DNA, allowing us to have a greater discipline and sensitivity in channeling these energies more naturally than most. 

-clears his throat a bit- I um hope that my ramblings answered your question some.

 An unfortunate outcome of dealing with Chaos energies is that they can be quite unstable as chaos in an of itself is unpredictable, so while our lineage has done its part in making it a science there’s still variables that may be unknown to us or beyond our scope of comprehension.

Do you guys have a favorite sport? And do you practice any?

-lightheartedly chuckles- Aw geez, If my Janny was still around you could not get her to stop talking about what sports she loved. I feel like she did a bit of everything from track and field, to gymnastics, to contact sports she did it all. Always so active, her mother and I would always be surprised at what activity she would join in, just made her guardian training later on look like a breeze in comparison, she sure showed off her old man. -shakes his head with a small chuckle- 

Ah.. um..  Guess I’m getting a bit besides myself. As Guardians we make it a habit to maintain ourselves rather active and sharp so we do practice the occasional sporting activities. Personally I enjoy javelin tossing from time to time and father and I would throw the occasional basketball or baseball to pass the time. I like a lot of team sports, just gives me more reasons to bring family into the fun you know? -smiles-

The olympics truly are a special occasion I always have them on when they come around, I love the opening and closing ceremonies and seeing all the excitement of everyone getting together to compete. Although my personal favorite sport to watch in the olympics is always the dancing competitions. So much skill and such flair with all the costumes and routines oooh how fun! 

This year introduced breakdancing as a new sport in the Olympics and Iris and I had such a blast watching it! Such creativity and body discipline truly spectacular!

Yeah that was dope!! I’m glad that breakdancing got into the Olympics because that was awesome! 

Honestly I don’t really care much for sports but the Olympics have a special place in my heart, the ceremonies get me all the time too just beautiful. I also like that the Olympics this year were full of memes -giggles- 

I will say I really like swimming, not in like a competitive way but just swimming in general is nice and a surprisingly fun exercise while at it. As an Islander you just can’t keep me away from water. I found out Spectre likes to swim too, so sometimes we swim together but whats more fun than that is diving. -wags tail happily-

Sojourner

Ah I don’t care much for watching sports but I’ll watch the occasional women’s sport competitions, I find it a whole lot more entertaining personally -grins-. I’m often surprised at how much these ladies can kick ass even though they’re 5 foot nothing at times, they do garner my respect in that regard. 

In terms of myself I like taking part in a lot of combat sports especially in the martial arts, makes for great combat training especially when chaos energy is involved. Father and I spend a great deal practicing with each other and sharpening our combat skills. I also have really enjoyed free climbing with the occasional BASE jumping, especially when I’m out and about hiking or even surveilling the island.

Iris: 

I LIVE for Halloween!! It’s my favorite holiday! There’s no other holiday you get to dress up and enjoy the dark and spooky while eating some sweets! I’m a little too old to go trick-or-treating, but that doesn’t stop me from dressing up and having some fun. Decorating and baking Halloween treats- oooh I get excited just thinking about it! 🤩-wags their tail excitedly- 

Speaking of Halloween I wonder what I should dress up as this year…

Halloween? Oh man, it’s been ages since we’ve celebrated that! Sometimes we would decorate and even dress up just to have some family fun together. Although admittedly, those times were more prominent when we had little ones running around. Seems as we get older we celebrate it less and less, besides watching the occasional scary movie together and share some sort of sweet. 

Although… Iris’s excitement is quite inspiring, and I do love me a good little party, we might just have to do something to celebrate!

Iris:

-Chuckles- Oh dear you have no idea! As much as we appear to be stern we’re still family, all work and no play does no one any good even us Guardians. Some of us are more playful or light hearted around each other, no offense to grandfather Spectre, but he’s a bit too stern for jokes..

My father, Sojourner, however has been the main perpetrator of jokes, almost like it’s been his life-duty to make my life insufferable. Growing up he always made it a habit to give me a hard time or joke with me, all in good fun but still a pain. 

He’s the only one that I have seen poke fun at Grandfather and joke around with him, with varying degrees of success of course.

You’d think age would take it out of him but oh no, he lives for it! Although… Since we’ve gained some new company with Iris and their bird friend there’s definitely been some rather…amusing developments.

I have never seen anyone get under my father’s skin so deeply over the smallest of things too! I thought my father was a master at horsing around with people but this bird has it down to a fine art. 

Needless to say that things around here have gotten a lot more entertaining with our new companions. Even Iris brings out a couple of laughs out us with their wit. 

Sometimes all you need is a good hardy laugh to make things feel alright. 

Do you guys have a favorite type of TV show? 👀

Sojourner:

Unfortunately due to the nature of our work it leaves us with little time to watch much TV besides the news, it also gets difficult to keep up with shows when you tend live for so long. However, I will say that I do like to unwind with some Television at the end of the day. I’ll usually put on some oldie to fall asleep to on the couch -chuckles- I like older sitcoms or movies revolving around military settings or stories, sometimes I’ll put on the occasional science fiction film, the Star Wars movies being a favorite of mine. But that’s just me, I don’t think anyone else watches much TV around here, I know father personally prefers to read more than anything. Thunderhawk: 

I agree with father, we aren’t too much of TV watchers, even grandfather Hawking gets restless being told to rest and watch something to fill his time. I will say that I personally LOVE cooking shows! Every once in a while I’ll put it on while having morning breakfast or while I cook to see what new recipes I can find. I used to watch a lot of music videos and sitcoms when I was younger but now If I’m watching TV I rather sit down and enjoy a movie with my family to spend some time together. -smiles-  

Sabre:

Sometimes I’ll watch nature documentaries or shows that revolve around gardening and harvesting, or science topics, although I enjoy most listening to music more than sitting down watching the TV. Locke also inherited a love for documentaries from a young age, he’ll catch a drama series or a movie here and there but I think that he loves the History channel more than anything.

Well…This one was scared of thunder -points at Thunderhawk with a cheeky smile-

-smacks his lips and rolls his eyes dramatically- Ugh, come on give me a break I was a baby..

You were afraid of part of your name sake, you would cry and run for your mother like a little scaredy cat, all over some loud noises from the sky -chuckles-

I WAS LIKE 2!! What was I supposed to do put on a brave face and fight the sky?!!

Sojourner 

That would have been pretty cool actually.. -smirks-

-brings a palm to his temple with a sigh, while Sojourner chuckles like an idiot behind him-

-A low growl can be heard coming from Spectre-

Thunderhawk:  “Nice seeing you again Cedar!” he smiles giving them a wave in return. 

"Hmm that’s a good question… We have our own set of rituals and grounding work with the Master Emerald to get insight from The Emerald and deepen our connection with the chaos force. But in terms of us using chaos energies for ourselves it really varies by person.” 

“While our years of practice makes using our abilities second nature , almost like um using another set of hands I suppose, it’s still something that takes a lot of physical and mental energy. Everyone has a different thresholds or even just how chaos energy manifests itself in someone’s body can vary between people."

"I personally like to use it as extra hands in the kitchen the most, since I like to cook its become like a sort of mental muscle memory to maneuver the kitchen with my chaos abilities.”

“I know that my father uses chaos energy as a second set of hands in his everyday using it rather casually, he’s even learned how to drive hands-free with it, as well as help him fix any sort of machinery he’s tinkering with. I don’t think I could match his pace quite yet since he has been quite disciplined in his chaos abilities for a lot longer than I.”

Thunderhawk looks around playfully to make sure his father wasn’t around. “Although I wouldn’t inflate his ego over it” He mentions softly to cedar with a giggle.

“But… By far nothing I’ve seen can compare to my grandfather. It’s as if he’s almost one with the chaos force itself it’s quite incredible really. He has such a finesse using chaos energy being a lot more skilled than any of us, and he can use it like it’s nothing. He could teleport all over this base like a walk in the park while even teleporting once for us can be incredibly taxing. Even to this day it leaves me mesmerized… Guess the saying a “A master makes something impossible look easy” rings true for Gramps.” 

“Hm.. Sabre tends to use his abilities sparingly but he thrives with it the most when he’s gardening, he’s got such a gentle hand for greenery and that has also translated in his chaos manipulation. "

"Locke is always quite eager to work on his chaos abilities wanting to match the skill of his grandfathers so he’ll exercise his chaos abilities whenever he can. He makes good progress but… he’d probably do even better if he got himself some proper rest…” He gives a bit of a pout at the thought, his grandson really needed to work on himself some more... But he shook the thought out of his head, giving Cedar a cheerful smile instead.
