Sunday Throwback
Spring 2015 - making nettle and basil pesto. I always use cashews instead of pine nuts. 1) they're a little cheaper but 2) they also last longer without the pesto taking on a bitter taste. Pinenuts are only really good if you're willing and able to eat all the pesto within two days, IMO, but that's probably always been true of pesto. It's supposed to be a fresh sauce, not a keeper.
Throwback Sunday
We spent the whole day out, moving from one place to another. In the morning we went to another district for my husband’s dental check-up at a well-known clinic. After that, we stopped by JD Mall to look at bed mattresses since we plan to buy a new one. We also had a late lunch at the JD Mall canteen.
Later, we took the Metro back to our district and headed straight to the hospital, where my husband had a doctor’s appointment. On the way home he was planning to pick up some pizza and fried chicken, but I managed to stop him. Instead, we continued to HePingMen supermarket to buy some meat, since our fridge was already empty.
By the time we finally got home, I fried some vermicelli and potatoes to go with rice and soup. After finishing everything, we relaxed with a film. As always, I fried chicken and a few spring rolls for my husband, who is an absolute fried chicken monster, to snack on while watching.
