i was kind of looking into reading alchemised but apparently it was a hp dram/ione fic before it was turned into a novel which made me like πππ
i have very conflicting feelings abt fanfiction being turned into original fiction and then published as something new. on the other hand it's pretty cool that a fanfic author gets so recognized that they're able to get a publishing deal and i'm very happy for them, but often it's impossible to separate the book from the source material and you can connect the characters and lore and whatever to the original one pretty easily (even if it was an AU), which certainly isn't great.
also they often tend to be pretty bad for some reason, lol π«©
#i think it was based on the fic called ma/nacled which i've heard abt but never read#bc i haven't interacted with hp in years#so i don't think i'll ever read this book! it sounded interesting but i don't think i'd be able to read without feeling uncomfortable#also i've heard it's extremely dark and it's so long that i'd probably lose interest half-way there lol#through*#π¬: chatter
