To see little toes pressed against the floor
Slightly confused at the displacement
For kids don’t loom in the halls of this basement
She found the courage to get up from her seat
Only to be met with a handful of teeth
The necklace fell around her feet
She couldn’t move, for heaven’s sake, no
She looked around for the ten toes
But only to find them bare as bones
That little girl was only 6
She used to suck on her swollen tongue
That’s what made her numb
To the pain that was done to her teeth
As the tooth fairy pulled them out from underneath.
