#thrill seeking

I’ve already talked about Nathan Pyle and I still strongly recommend him for his comics, but here is one interesting conundrum of humanity: thrill seeking while being afraid of death and/or not wanting to die.

I admit, some of my thrill-seeking desires have gone down since my thanatophobia has increased. Looking at Disney will determine how well this holds (though I don’t think they have too many death defying rides). 

I have been told, and in the past experienced, the rush that comes with such things, though. The adrenaline, the laughter, the relief at being alive. It’s such a strange thing to go chasing, but that feeling is delightful. To go up against something terrifying, and come out on the other side (even if it is, probably, safe to begin with) is truly thrilling! It makes one feel alive. 

I’m not going to expressly recommend amusement park rides, but perhaps looking for other similar things to create that feeling could be useful. For some people, the horror genre is sufficient (movies, books, video games). Virtual Reality may be another way to enjoy the experience.
