🧍‍♂️ Your body makes you stand out immediately. The puppets, all made of bright and colorful felt and thread, are endlessly fascinated by the softness and warmth of human skin, the way you blink and breathe in a way they never do.

📏 You’re way taller than most puppets. Your movements are smoother too, and maybe a bit too fluid in their eyes.

👁️ The puppets are fascinated by you. You’re the only human around, and honestly, you’re a walking mystery to them. Sometimes they just stare at your skin or watch your nails while they're chatting with you, things they don’t really understand but find captivating.

🤲 Some puppets, like Charlotte occasionally find themselves reaching out to touch your hair or fingers, just to confirm that they’re not some elaborate costume.

🪶 Skin is a frequent topic of conversation. Veena once tried to gently touch your arm, then pulled back, whispering about how strange you feel. You’re a work of art made from a totally different material.

🧼 Veena asked to brush your hair once and was shocked at how strands fell out so easily. Veena also thinks bellybuttons are horrifying. Can’t stop staring at yours.

🌞 They like how warm you are. Most folks here are soft and cool to the touch felt or corduroy or cotton. But when your arm brushes his, he feels skin. He feels heat. He swears you’re like holding a pocketful of summer. And it confuses him. Because puppets don’t keep warmth. So where are you getting it from?

🎤 Your voice sounds so different Patty-Ann sometimes asks you to sing or talk, just because it’s soothing.

😂 Your laughter sounds different. Not stitched together like the others. Oliver didn’t know laughter could crack like that. He likes it. He really does. But now and then, he stares too long. Like he’s wondering if it’s real, or if you’re just really good at pretending.

🍽️ Your way of eating biting, chewing, swallowing is a constant source of bewilderment. Puppets have never really needed to chew; they “absorb” food or nibble in strange ways. Oliver especially likes to watch, fascinated by how your teeth work.

👀 Eating is a whole other level of curiosity. Since you chew and swallow, puppets like Rocky or Veena will watch you with wide eyes, fascinated by how you can eat without needing to cut up your food as much.

🦷 Veena’s a bit obsessed with you, especially your teeth. You don't know why, she’s not even sure herself. She just gets a little flustered when she sees you use your teeth for anything other than eating.

💦 You sometimes get weird looks when you snort or sweat, but the puppets don’t mean any harm, they’re just genuinely curious.

🩸 Oliver once saw you bleed. Just a scrape, barely more than a paper cut. But the moment that red welled up, thick and metallic and not cotton? Pandemonium.

🧵 Veena tried teaching you how to sew a button one afternoon, You pricked your finger on the needle and bled. A single drop bloomed scarlet on the thread. Veena stared. You offered to finish it. She said no. She doesn’t know why she felt so weird about it, but it felt like you pricked something deeper than a finger.

💔 The puppets worry about your fragility. After all, you can get bruised or sick in ways puppets never can. Patty-Ann tries to fuss over you like a mother hen, worried about you, you sleep under her roof after all.

🧬 The puppets struggle to understand how you heal, Since you don’t have a stuffer. You explain skin and blood cells, which sounds like magic to them. A visiting Doctor Dulldrum is particularly interested.

🪡 While the puppets sometimes need stitches or repairs, You can’t be “fixed” with thread and needles. This mystifies the puppets.

🧠 Rocky keeps asking how your bones don’t rip through your skin when you bend. Rocky once tried to poke a vein with a fishing hook. You had to explain what blood pressure is. He kept his distance for a bit after that.

🩻 Doctor Dulldrum doesn’t blink once while staring at you in the clinic. “So your insides move on their own? Intriguing.”

You cracked your knuckles once in front of Doctor Dulldrum once. He nearly jumped out of his chair if he didn't have better control of himself than that. “Was that your hands making that popping?” He leaned in, eyes curious and excited. “Certainly no stuffing in there,” he whispered. He spent the next few days doing nothing but thinking about you in his free time, wondering what else inside you could bend without breaking.

🌾 You once helped Oliver with some harvest you took a moment to stretch and cracked your back with an audible pop, Oliver nearly fainted. Later, he told Veena that you “took a good crack at helping him.”

“Your joints bend strangely,” he says while handing you tea. “Do they click like that often?”

🧷 The town collectively panics the first time you get a small cut.

Doctor Dulldrum was not impressed, the nurses are just happy to finally meet you.

The nurses Max and Min laugh every time you sneeze. At least one random puppet who doesn't know about you screams and runs. It never stops being funny.

📣 You often use expressions or idioms the puppets don’t get 

 at first, leading to funny misunderstandings. For example, “break a leg” causes genuine panic, until explained that it means “good luck.”

📚 Patty never hesitates to ask you questions once you're alone, sharing stories, memories, and customs from your life that fascinate her and broaden her understanding.

Because you’re the only human, you’re a bit of a freak-show. Puppets sometimes ask you to describe what your world looks like, and you share information about hippos, whales, old legends like   things the puppets can only imagine.

Patty, after you sneezed for the first time, whispered, “What was that?” like you'd summoned a demon.

🌊 One day, you fell into the creek trying to save a bunch of fish bait that fell in, Rocky yelled so loud that puppets could hear him from the hospital. He was so scared he barely even noticed when you emerged soaked, but alive. Rocky blinked in shock, maw agape, as you climbed back up the small but rocky cliff, bait over your shoulder, once he could reach you he pulled you up so hard he nealy dislocated your shoulders.

The next time, he made sure to keep you in his sight and the line on his rod extra strong, just in case.

🛡️ Puppets like Rocky and Pierre feel a bit protective of you. They’re already aware you can’t withstand the same dangers they can shrug off, like falling down somewhere deep or getting crushed.

🌈 Being the only human in Threadville is weird, but the puppets are weird too.

They’re curious, cautious, and occasionally grossed out. But they’re learning.

📦 You had just been helping old Granny find her sewing machine in the attic when you heard a sound coming from a mirror near the back of the attic. But when you unveiled the mirror, it had sucked you in!

🧵 To your surprise, you've landed in a whole new world where fabric and felt are the norm, and there is virtually no flesh or blood. This obviously makes you stand out as an alien among the local population, which leaves you feeling self-conscious, since you just happened to fall into a place where humans just don't exist naturally. And you don't even know how to get home!

🥕 Oliver had been with Veena, as they often enjoy tea parties together. Before, you had quite literally crashed into their party. Oliver was the one who initially woke you up, as both he and Veena assumed that your fall from the sky was fatal and that you were dead. Oliver had been looking at your “corpse” with an almost childlike sense of wonder and a little terror, so when you sprang up from the ground, you scared the stuffing right out of him! Could you really blame him? An alien creature had just fallen from the sky! Once Oliver realized you’re not hostile, his warm and friendly nature shone through. Though a little timid and very confused, he does his best to welcome you to this new world.

🎀 The first time you meet, Veena is, to put it bluntly, screaming at you. Veena is super skeptical about you, but she finds it relieving to have someone with an even stranger appearance around. She is protective of Oliver at first and doesn’t trust you, but she knows that looks can be deceiving and there's nothing to really be afraid of. Besides, she loves spooky and scary things; you were destined to be friends, really. So gradually she warms up to you and decides to help you out a bit. She does love to bake after all, and you make a great taste tester. The fact that you'd probably starve without her is never brought up.

🐻 Rocky had been napping soundly at the maze's exit when the others had woken him up, and wasn't exactly in a good mood when he saw a puppet with no felt and liquid leaking out of them. He doesn't really believe your trouble, but he always gets this horrible feeling at the back of his head whenever you're around. But you've done nothing wrong so far, and as long as you continue to play nice with the residents, he won't do anything. After all, everyone is a little different, right? He is grateful that you brought him plenty of honey and weren’t too energetic or loud. Still, every time he stares at you for too long, a violent ache starts to form.

🏀 Charlotte was a little shocked watching Rocky bring an actual alien into town that day. To put it frankly, you look weird, and she's ready to ask a lot of questions that would make her sound like the rudest person in town. But can you blame her? A strange creature falling from the sky. When she overhears that you don't know where to go or what to do, she doesn't hesitate to tell Aunt Patty, there's no way she's letting the alien bunk in anyone else's house!

🔮 Patty is certainly shocked by you at first, but quickly brushes aside any judgment. Patty understands that you might think she would be afraid due to your looks; she sees how different you are, but she also notices all your similarities. If she were that vain, she wouldn’t be nearly as close to dear Veena as she is now! In fact, she is certain that you and all the other residents will get along great! She has no problem housing you until you're back on your feet.

🍎 Worm is one of the few residents who doesn’t hide his opinion that you are quite obviously a freak. He is very unashamed when he talks about your body and looks. Oliver, despite being a pushover to Worm's usual antics, just won’t tolerate Worm being so rude to someone else! Veena is also quick to assure you that Worm isn't even this rude to you because of your appearance. He's just horrible to anybody he can't use.

🏪 Pierre had been out of town when you had dropped in, leaving Worm in charge of the market in his absence. So he met you later than the others did. He was on the verge of a breakdown looking at you, but did a pretty good job playing it off as his naturally nervous demeanor and fought the urge to hide his head in the ground. When it comes to his market, Pierre has made it a point to charge fair prices to the puppets that buy from him. But he'd be lying if he said he's been charging you fair prices for the trinkets you've bought off him.

➕ Max, being the more extroverted of the twin nurses, met you before her sister. Since she has an outgoing nature and is always ready to spark a friendly conversation, she works up front, interacting with the patients more. You were just here for a check-up and to meet some of the staff who work here, just in case something happened to you later. Max made sure to grill you for all the details she could squeeze out of you. Her sister is going to be so jealous! Though she doubted you'd ever come in again, well, until you broke your arm.

➖ Min, being the more introverted of the twin nurses, met you sometime after her sister. Since she has a more isolationist nature and is always quick to get to the end of any conversation, she works more often with Doctor Dulldrum behind the scenes than she interacts with any of the patients. But when you, a species nobody really recognized or understood, walked in with a broken limb, it made sense that they sent the nurse who graduated at the top of her class to discuss treatment. Despite her more reserved nature, she was rather excited to discuss your biology and healing. Only to ensure that you're treated with the care and respect you deserve, of course!

🩺 Dulldrum was very no-nonsense when you walked in behind Min with a broken arm. He has no clue what or who you are, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't do his best to deliver the best care possible for his newest patient. No one can match his proficiency in the operating room, after all. Despite being a bit boring, his interrogation with Nurse Min about your treatment went well. Though he isn't old enough to die from stress, but golly! If he wasn't on the verge of a heart attack when he saw all the blood that came straight out of you.

Oliver always brings a little jar of honey with a twine bow on it, labeled with your name.

You once complimented his bowtie, and now he wears that same red polka-dot one every time you're around. He swears it’s just coincidence.

Veena teases him a little, but she’s clearly rooting for him. She gives you both those knowing “old lady matchmaker” glances.

He gets super flustered when you show interest in his garden. He wants you there, please come back- but also he’s worried he’s boring you.

Will 100% give you the “pretty” veggies. Like if a tomato is shaped like a heart or a squash looks oddly perfect, he saves it for you.

Pierre quietly suffers the loss of quality crops from Oliver, he thinks it's cute.

He says he can’t grow flowers, but still tries every year just to surprise you with one. The collection of half withered carnations and daisies he's given you is steadily growing

He’s scared of bees but won’t let them near you. He’ll literally stiff-arm a bee out of your airspace. “I like their honey, not their buzz…”

One time some old furniture collapsed and nearly fell on you, Oliver didn’t think, he just grabbed you and shielded you with his whole body.

Shaky hands after, but a solid voice, “Jeepers, Are you okay?” he barely even notices the tear on his shoulder.

Turns red as a beat when you help patch him up later.

Still has visible stitching on his sleeves from where he got cut trying to get between you and danger.

He plays piano sometimes when he thinks no one’s paying attention. You told him once that his playing sounded “so homely.” He cried about it later. Quietly.

Loves watching rom-coms from your home with you but pretends not to understand the plots just so you’ll explain them to him.

He doesn’t get a lot of your jokes, but your laugh is his favorite sound.

Talks about his siblings a lot, especially Jasper’s old days of mischief and June’s drawings still faintly on the barn walls.

Doesn’t talk about his dad unless he really trusts you. One night during a storm, you sat with him on the cellar steps, and he told you about the first time he planted a seed, and it actually grew.

“He would’ve liked you,” he said, voice quiet. “He liked odd people.”

Theres no confession. He kind of just… melts into the idea of loving you slowly.

Starts offering you gloves when you help, then taking your gloves for you when you’re done. Starts brushing dirt off your cheek like it’s casual.

“You always look good here… I mean-! happy! You look happy! That’s what I meant-!”

Eventually gives you a jar of honey with a freshly cut red tulip on the lid and a small, folded note under it. You open it later and it just says:

Veena laughed at him for days. Days!

The garden you help harvest used to be a small testing area, but is now specifically set up as a memory game for the children. After they got bored with it, he's been using it to keep his wits sharp.

Veena

When Veena first came to Threadville she was pretty sure, she'd be kicked out pretty quickly, so didn't bother being too nice when she moved in.

Oliver didn't take it too hard and earned her friendship through sheer farm-boy charm and stubbornness.

After complaining to Oliver one day how there were no dyes that would stick to her hair for longer than a month, he spent weeks planting all sorts of stuff that was used for dyes, like madder and woad. Patty was the one who showed how to mix them into a black dye. It barely washes out. Veena didn't cry, She swears.

Rocky

The reason he has a key to the gate is because his father used to be the town's guard-dog when times were… tougher.

Though these days the only thing to worry about is Worm.

Really admires Oliver's endurance, that man can work for days straight with a smile and Rocky can't even get up to eat someday.

He's worried a lot that folk don't like him because of his size, he's proud to be as tall as his momma, but some days he wishes he was as cute as his old dad.

He's the one who set up the tether-ball pole for Charlotte.

Patty

One of her favorite food is peaches.

She used to keep a photo of her and her ex-partner in a frame by the front door, but lost it one day.

The other performer was Charlotte's mother.

She is really psychic, but the crystal ball goes null when it attempts to interact with something from another world.

One day after Charlotte broke some stuff after brining another ball inside, she asked if anybody knew any other games the child could play, the next day Rocky marched straight into town and set up the tether-pole.

Charlotte

Her least favorite fruit is peaches.

All the other kids used to love sleeping over at Miss Patty's house, so she spent a lot of long nights learning how to sew so she could make sleeping bags.

Really competitive, she thinks if she's the best at games her friends will want to play more, but because she's so rough, it just does the opposite.

She feels even worse on the days any of the other kids go to visit family when she can't, especially when all of them left together, without her and Miss Patty-ann.

It's become a cycle.

Used to hang out with Worm.

Always looked at the old photo of young Patty happy with a pretty lady back in her heyday as she walked out the door. After all her friends stopped being so friendly with her, she couldn't stand looking at it and smashed it. She lied about it later, and told Miss Patty that she knocked it over after bringing a ball into the house.

Worm

His big cousin is a class four puppet, even bigger than Rocky and Pierre! Of course, he's got a huge ego, he grew up thinking he was going to become huge just like his family when he got older! But that never happens, he never grows up, literally.

Worm and Charlotte used to be BFF's, but he kept starting fights with the younger kids, and he doesn't like being seen. Now he calls everyone who's slightly nice to him his best friend because he thinks it'll make him feel better. It doesn't.

Pierre

When he first started a market in town he was nearly staked by Oliver who thought he was a different Pierre. A lot of the townsfolk like to laugh about, but he still shivers at the memory. He can't be too mad, though, Oliver had his heart in the right place and gave him a lot of free crops to sample after.

He feels terrible for Worm, he's so small, so shortsighted.
