Combing Crime: a story of exploring the vast depths of the internet
@vashoneyâ
If Aesin was honest with herself, their first meeting was a bit weird. Or a better word to descrive it was: suspicious. But then again, the smaller woman didnât look exactly like a threat. First of all, because she was just a human. Second of all, she didnât carry any deadly weapons. That day, Aesin had already felt an intruding presence on the perimeter, the unfamiliar smell of a stranger slowly coming closer towards the Nightbane headquarters. Before whoever it was who was disturbing her âmorningâ - the time she woke up from a nap, around evening - could reach the door, Aesin already made her way to the heavy front door, pushing it open. The low sound of leaves rustling on the ground gave away the position of the stranger, who was hiding behind a tree. âI can see you.â, was what Aesin had called out, even though she couldnât directly see through the tree, but she knew the human was there anyways. Which made the blonde girl come forth, rambling about being the owner of a ... Log? Block? Blog? So called Combing Crime. And that she was interested in the death of Go Jeon. It wasnât the first time someone had come up to the Nightbane to ask about that matter. After all, they were a guild against vampires, which didnât paint them as very innocent after all.Â
But even though listening to the woman try to persuade her into giving her any information, Aesin was not allowed to do that and she had to send her away. She always caught herself getting a bit weak around cute girls and she was sure that if she had spent a few more minutes with her, she might have even spilled any important information, but she couldnât have that and had escorted the girl back to the gate of the property.Â
However, as soon as a day later she had found herself thinking about the woman, deciding to grab her very rarely used laptop, turning it on. The only thing she knew to do was check her e-mails - even though she never received any - and ask google questions. That was handy. With confidence she pulled up her browser, typed in google and proceded to write:
âWhat is a blog?â, after all she knew what a log was and a block didnât seem to be it either.Â
âA blog is a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.â That made sense. Now, the next thing was finding that one blog in particular. Once again, she pulled up google and searched for the Crime Combing blog. Aesin almost wanted to congratulate herself after finding it, looking through the blog. That girl - Jinah was her name - seemed to focus on different crimes and theories, her latest entry was her saying sorry to her âfollowersâ because she couldnât get any information from the Nightbane. âIf she hadnât sneaked on the property...â, Aesin mumbled to herself as she stumbled upon the comment section.Â
âLeave a commentâ, it said above a box. Aesin thought for a moment. Does she have to leave a comment? That sentence seemed so demanding. Maybe she had to, or the site would banish her from visiting again.Â
