There are pros and cons to not having a public phone number for my workplace.
Pros: we don’t have to answer calls from customers. Therefore we can just keep working without needing to constantly stop what we’re doing to see if we have something in stock.
Cons: certain customers who repeatedly want to order cases of things at random intervals need to have the personal numbers of whichever member of management is dealing with them at the time. Which means we get calls or messages when we’re not working.
And I’m of the mind where I don’t even look at their texts when I’m not at work. I’ll respond when I’m on the clock. But no fucking sooner. I’m not forwarding the message unless I’m on vacation and I really don’t want this fucker pestering me. I’m not calling the people working that day about it because this order isn’t for anything that’s honestly all that important in the long run. It’s not for an event or anything like that. No real time sensitivity behind this particular guy’s order. If it was time sensitive, I’d probably forward the message. Like “hey I need x for Saturday because I’m hosting a bday party” or whatever. If it’s just, “can you order me another case of x?” Then yeah you’re getting nothing from me.
And he’s been left on “delivered” (if he uses read receipts or anything like that) before with no complaints. But, there are times where he gets pushy about it and I just want to block his number or tell him to get in touch with someone else and then block it. Like, if you need it by a certain day fucking say that. Otherwise, you can wait.
