“shit.” heroing was never going to be as easy as she thought, obvious. it doesn’t matter if she’s a legacy, if she’s made sure she was trained for it. all lila felt was that she kept making mistakes, things that couldn’t be afforded in this life.

one bullseye. two. three. four. again and again and again, a solid grouping right in the middle of the target every time. uncanny if you didn’t know where she came from. the eighth went off into one of the rings and lila swore.

“Who are you?” She stared at the boy, bow drawn, ready. This other universe was too different for her to willingly let her guard down, even for a teenager. But there was something... oddly familiar about him that she couldn’t place. It made her miss her dad.
