I am LATE for Tolkien-OC week D: but I had to do something! So I drewa quick sketch Thornadil (þornanilmë)..no shading, because then I'd never be done!! But yes, Thorn, who I asked the question "what if I took 'tolkien-nerd MGiME' to the logical extreme and gave her foresight in-verse." The answer? extreme depression lol She knows how this story goes, so what's the point? argh she deserves a whole post of her own but this is for tolkeinOCweek, so I wanna keep it short and sweet, but her story arc!!! She is Curufin's wife and Celebrimbor's mother, and yes she knows how the original story goes, and it totally doesn't haunt her. it is also a point of contention between curufin and feanor. She is Vanyar, because 1) never made a vanya OC before, 2) they are supposed to be the """spiritual""" ones, and she is not. "I like Arda Marred, actually." is what got her booted from polite vanyar society. She is a Sheperdess and naturalist by trade. She and Curufin meet while he is exploring and she is tending sheep.

OK, post for Thornadil (þornanilmë). þornanilmë is actually the feminized version of þornandil, but it means the same; "steadfast friend/lover."

(þ/s)orna: steadfast. This can either be þorna or sorna, but given that Vanyar (and Fëanorians) did not transition from þ, and she is both, it's þorna

(n)dil: friend, lover, devotion, disinterested love. As Tolkien put is, "the attitude of one to a person, thing, course or occupation to which one is devoted for its own sake (LET/386)"

As I said in the original post, she is a MGiME to the extreme. That is to say, she knows the "plot," but she also knows what could be. It seems like it's set in stone. Her Vanya up-bringing is very, "don't go against the music." What's the point in living if she knows the plot and she can't change it? She lingers, for whatever reason. (The truth is, she still has estel, but it hurts to look at, so she doesn't). She also sees in her naturalist studies and Visions, Arda Marred. And she thinks it's beautiful. She's seen Arda before Melkor, as she's read the books and Sees Things that Were, but Arda Marred is more beautiful than that. This refusal to say that Arda would be more beautiful Unmarred causes her to get kicked out from her parents home. She's mostly grown, so it doesn't hurt (liar.)

She wanders wherever her naturalist heart wants for a while. She doesn't need people to thrive (liar liar). Eventually she ends up at Alqualondë and is taken in by a Telerin Family who herds sheep. She stays with them and learns to be a shepherdess, and they love her as she is, depressed and melancholy and loving Arda Marred.

This is how she spends a lot of years. Until she Meets Curufinwë.

I'm going to end this part here but i wanna leave you with this as foreshadowing
