Jack Heath (1915-1969), “Cosmic Events”, 1959, oil and enamel on board, 122 X 244cm
Jack Heath’s fascination with thorn forms started shortly after his arrival in South Africa in 1947. He was equally fascinated with the geometric division of the rectangle, and the Golden Section. This work is a double square, one side of which is divided by a diagonal, a classical use of the format.
It is doubtful that this very large work has ever been exhibited.
