It was on my porch. Coming after me.

Once a year, everyone has to do a chore-- I don't remember the specifics, but it's an annual thing like renewing your tabs or whatever. But once you start the task, this thing appears.

Its goal is to furiously hump your leg. It is unkillable and indestructible. You can kick it away but if you actually kick it hard, or try to harm it in any way, it will grow aggressive. You can push it away and hold it at arms length. But if you are rude to it, it will remember your rudeness. It holds grudges and becomes violent if met with outright hostility.

It is standard practice to act politely glad to see it, like a work acquaintance. Then you have to keep moving it away with your foot every time it gets close while you go about your task.

When the task is finished, it goes away.

There is only one of these things but it never fails to appear to everyone.

It couldn't/didn't speak, but it seemed to understand human language and knew when it was being spoken about or insulted.

Everyone treated this like an annoying fact of life. "Oh, it's time for my annual _____, better get ready to deal with that porcelain mime dog thing."

It was so incredibly vivid. It was in my yard, coming after me. It had a serene expression, the face of a porcelain mime/clown/doll, a long nose, a little party hat, no ears, and the body of a hairless white dog with no tail.

I woke up with this image vividly in my mind and knew I had to draw it.

The substances in my body the night before were my adhd meds, which I took way too late in the day (had forgotten but didnt want to skip), an edible I took to attempt to counteract the effects of the lingering meds so I could get to sleep, and some lemon balm tincture, which I also took to try and make myself sleep.

This has been a harrowing lesson about never taking my meds too late in the day ever again.

- If it could be stopped by encasing it in concrete, etc., it wouldn't be able to appear to everyone every year. It is not bound by physics.
