Fall Finale Tonight! I am in the Pacific Time Zone so I will be logging off soon to avoid spoilers but I am curious about people's predictions...
Here are mine (not necessarily expected to be addressed tonight just sometime in S4):
โข I hope at some point they will address Kate's anorexia and/or bulimia eating disorder. They showed this a little back in S2 with her conversation with Madison. Given the stuff with Marc lately and how Rebecca told Kate she needed to eat more than just a banana for dinner, I agree with those who think whatever trauma Marc causes Kate will exacerbate all her issues with food. It makes me sad thinking of all the pain she has gone through.
โข I also think this traumatic experience with Marc will have a big impact on her relationship to music. Up until this point, Kate's inability to pursue music again seemed to be completely connected to her sadness about Jack's death, given how supportive he always was about her music and that he salvaged her audition for the Berklee School of Music from the fire. But in S4 she has been reconnecting with music through the record store. Marc being all tied up in that is likely going to really ruin it for her for a long time.
โข I know most people think Rebecca has Alzheimers or another form of dementia and that she will forget everything that matters to her. I originally thought that too (earlier in S3, before the finale) because TIU is so much about memories and how we see life through our own individual perspectives. I think it could still be part of it (my grandma had both dementia and strokes). But as I understand it, dementia generally affects recent memories and your perception of the present rather than long ago memories. Since seeing the S3 finale, what is ailing her looks like a stroke, maybe more than one. To me it did not look like she didn't remember or recognize Randall but that could not speak, move her head much and possibly had vision problems. The way she moved her hands was strained, too. I wonder if what she has had already in the present is a small stroke, so small she may not even know she had it. That is not uncommon and it is common to have multiple ones with increasing severity.
โข I think Randall is going to have a very serious mental breakdown. How that will impact his position as a city councilmember, as well as his family life, will be interesting to see. Maybe it will teach him to listen to Beth about his health and wellbeing. (I love Randall but he pisses me off, too)
โข Really, really looking forward to seeing Shauna again. I am so glad that they are still making it clear that Deja will want some kind of relationship with her mother and that Randall of all people should understand that. I wonder what the mysterious connection Deja, her mother and great-grandmother will have to Philadelphia. I hope it will connect to Shauna's mother, Deja's grandma, who we have never seen. And to Randall's birthmother, Laurel and/or William.
โข I still think there is something weird about Toby's exercising. I think it is odd that he was doing it late at night when Kate could have used help with the baby and he could spend precious time with baby Jack. Then he complains about not getting to see firsts because he is working so much? Esp after the way he evaded helping with the baby at the end of S3.
โข More Miguel!! Always more Miguel. Esp because I expect he will be dead in the flashforward with Rebecca in bed. He's older than Rebecca and would therefore be really old by then. I hope he died peacefully and on good terms with his kids and grandkids (and maybe great-grandkids!)
โข And, of course, there is Kevin and his future son. I expect there will be something unexpected about this. Not sure what that will be. His son is about 11 or 12, I think, in the flashforward. So that could line up with him being from the night with Cassidy. But that might be too obvious, too.
