And with that, Nott has officially made me actually physically cry more often than any other fictional character ever has. Lifetime champion, far back as I can remember.
She thought her life was over, is what I’m getting from that. If she needed a sign that she could have another chapter, then she thought her story was done. And why wouldn’t she? She left the only life she’d ever known, as draining and dreary as it was, and she left it on the spur of the moment and she left it entirely alone. And she very, very explicitly doesn’t expect anyone to be friendly to her. She assumes people won’t want anything to do with a goblin. And for a character with so much love to give -- because watching her and Caduceus this episode is confirming for me something that I’ve thought for a long time, which is that she is so, so ready to care for people, so ready to welcome them, so quick to love -- that loneliness could be so crushing.
