"I hope you're happy with yourself," he barks, "I hope you're happy with living in that town in bumfuck middle of nowhere." Anger and disbelief shapes every word to appear more vitriolic and passionate, though it's fragility is clear.

"I hope you're happy when you live a good long unfulfilled life, cause you're never gonna be free," a tinge of remorse colors his words.

"I hope you're happy when you die alone, or worse, your stupid fucking friends who would trade you for pocket lint at the drop of a dime," he bites, the anger returns.

"I hope you live your life waiting for something to happen and it never does because you lost it." Disappointment flashes across his features, he releases some tension in his body as he retreats back.

"I hope you don't have to live with the grief of losing your best friend," a breath shudders as it escapes his lips. He does not sob, as though this is familiar.

"I hope you never think of me again," Kogane concludes as his eyes become glossy.

Enclosed. Shut in. Cornered.

No matter which way he looked, all he could see was black. There’s no end, no escape. Just an endless bound of nothingness.

He felt scared. He felt more things than scared. Hands, dirt, bruises. He felt pain, too.

Physical? Yes. Mental? Most indubitably. To the stars looking in on his darkness he displayed everything he could offer, though the only thing he possessed was an empire of dirt.

Where have all the good men gone? He needs a hero; no, he needs his hero. His knight riding atop his fierce lion clad in blue shining armor.

To rescue him from the tower the treacherous dragon that never fails to remind him every sun up and down of his greatest fears, of his greatest insecurities.
