The Doctor’s gotten herself in trouble—the sort he doesn’t even want to know about—and comes to the Master for help. As a human. Now he has to keep an eye on a chameleon arch’ed Doctor, try not to go mad in the process and, of course, answer Jane’s ceaseless questions about this old friend of his. And maybe he doesn’t want to hurt the Doctor. And maybe he doesn’t want to tell her the truth. If she didn’t remember who they were, could he tell her a happy story instead?
