Frankly, I didnât know He was running. Last I heard, He wasnât available.
Our neighbor, Craig Wieland, who created this sign, explained his motivation in a neighborhood-wide email. It said, in part:
âBy now perhaps most of you have seen a few âJESUS 2020Ⲡyard signs that have dotted a few of your neighborsâ front yards.â
Wieland went on to say he was tired of the âdownright hateful confrontations that have gripped our nation for the past few years.â adding âI miss the old days when we all could have our political positions and still be civil and respectful of each other.â
Wieland wrote that he hopes his signs donât offend anybody, but acknowledged they werenât for everybody.
âIn fact,â he wrote,âone of my neighbors ... scowled at me and said, âI donât think itâs appropriate to use Jesus in a political manner.â Fair enough, I didnât make the sale. But, hopefully I didnât lose a friend either.â
Wieland, whom, I happen to know, is an anti-Trump Republican, is selling the signs for $25 each. All proceeds will go to the Lansing Food Bank.
