psa: writing books is hard but also fun • • • I’ve managed to get a tiny bit of work done on #thetidesoffate this long weekend. It’s so hard finding the time and motivation to write when your summer schedule is as chaotic as mine. But I’ve come to learn that writing isn’t just typing up script on the page. Daydreaming is a key part of developing your story further. Imagining what will happen to your characters next is another way you can keep working on your project when you don’t have the time to physically sit down and write. It makes those longer writing sessions you will face when you do have the time much easier! It also keeps you motivated to keep working on your project, to keep pushing forward, and to find new avenues for the parts of your story that aren’t working. The sequel to this is still coming along very slowly. But it is coming. Even though it feels like I will never be done writing this novel, I’m holding onto the joy and relief I know I’m going to feel when I’m finished with this book I’m so proud of. Writing is a struggle - it’s scary and time consuming. But, in the end, it’s worth it. I love seeing how my first novel has encouraged others to read more, write more, and appreciate the beauty and value of storytelling. This is not a testament to my writing, but to this passion and talent God has given me to create stories that mirror a very real hope I have in Him.
