“If you're sad, add more lipstick and attack.”
-Coco Chanel
Poor ChiDi. I’m currently watching Season 4, Episode 9 and man. This is a very emotional episode. Him and Simone are having issues. ChiDi in general is always trying to find the answer to his ultimate question. I love when Michael returns his memories.
In Episode 9 we really see who ChoDi really is as a person. I loved at the beginning when we got to see a young ChiDi. He’s always been so smart
We learn why Chidi is so indecisive. As a child, Chidi tried to stop his parents from divorcing by giving them a lengthy philosophical presentation. Because they stayed together afterward, he came to believe that every problem has one perfect answer if you think hard enough, fueling his lifelong obsession with making the "right" choice
His relationships shape him. The flashbacks show Chidi struggling with friendships, romance, and his academic career. Across all the reboots, Eleanor consistently helps him grow, even when he doesn't remember her.
The episode's central realization: Chidi eventually understands that life isn't about finding one perfect answer. Instead, every day requires making choices and continuing to work at becoming a better person. As he puts it, life isn't a puzzle you solve once—it's something you keep solving every day.
Michael's lesson about soulmates: Before Chidi's memories are erased again, Michael tells him that soulmates aren't something people simply find—they're something people create by building a relationship together. This becomes one of the show's defining messages.
The heartbreaking ending: Chidi realizes that Eleanor is "the answer" for him—not because she's predestined, but because she inspires him to become a better person. Knowing that restoring his memories is necessary, he willingly agrees to have them erased again so the experiment can continue.
ChiDi self sacrifices his own happiness for the great good of everyone else. He got the answers he wanted. So he’s okay with going back to no memories but here’s my question will he feel like something is off with his new life? Will they keep him with Simone? Will we see him and Eleanor finally end up together? Seems like every time they find each other something happens and it’ tears them apart
