Selfie for @theunstuffedpepper
A rare not-after-a-run shot! I’m actually sitting in the parking lot of the old McDonalds headquarters waiting for my son to finish swim coaching at the lodge that still operates on the property. Soon he will be able to drive and not need constant chauffeuring.

An amazing group!!
Confession: The last time I attempted a headstand was probably 3 weeks ago ... maybe longer, and I could NOT get up. I could not get my hips over my shoulders, couldn’t get my balance shifted so I could make it into a headstand. It really disappointed me. I was tired at the time, and I have kinda hung onto that small thread as the reason, but I haven’t tried it again, not wanting it to be confirmed that I can no longer do a headstand because I’m not strong enough to balance and lift the extra weight I’ve gained.
This week I’m starting to feel more ‘on track’ than I have in a long while, so, I decided to give it another try. I did it against the wall, but didn’t have to use it to balance. It took two tries to hold it, and wobbly AF, and it didn’t last long, but I made it.Â
The weirdest part is that my QUADS start to cramp ... quads? Why quads? I don’t know, but they were super-unhappy with the whole thing. So weird.Â
But, now I know I can still do it, even if not very well, so I can start building back up to being good at it again.
So, I haven’t posted about this, or even told very many people, because I’ve basically been working on not thinking about it too much.
Since I’m over 50, my doctor kept bugging me to do a colonoscopy. I finally caved in, sort of, and did one of those ‘cologuard’ tests for colon cancer. It came back positive.Â
There is certainly a possibility that this is a false-positive, and that’s kinda what I’ve been holding onto to keep myself afloat. Tomorrow I have a diagnostic colonoscopy to find out if there really is anything, or if the cologuard test was wrong.
Today I’m on clear liquids only, and at 5pm and midnight I have to drink a half-gallon of ... roto-rooter clean out stuff. Joy.
So, I’ll let you know what the results are when I know. I’m pretty sure it won’t be tomorrow, but I forgot to ask them when I get the results.Â
On the positive side, I’ve been trying to psych myself up to do a day of fasting each week, so this kinda forced it on me.

2017.01.24 Weekly Weigh-in / Check in
The scale has FINALLY moved again.Â
I was really starting to think it wasn’t going to. Â
Key points:
Down 2 pounds this week and 6.6 pounds since re-starting.
Despite keeping carbs low (and those I’m eating are all ‘whole foods’), I still am not in nutritional ketosis. (I’m still at .2 MMOL/L, ketosis starts at about .5) That’s confounding.
Most days my calories are ‘under’ what fitbit thinks I could eat, but I’m not so sure about fitbit’s determination of what I’m burning. I have tried to find a place around here where I can get my metabolism checked, but thus far, no luck. The only places I can find are weight-loss clinics who want you to join their program.
Sleep has been very good.
Water has been pretty good, considering it is winter. Most days at 96 ounces.
Steps need improvement. In my defense, on Saturday I did a lot of repair work in the house which required me getting down on the floor and up again about a million times (it seemed), which didn’t get me many steps but left me exhausted. Sunday was a concert and then football playoffs ... and, um ... yeah, no walking.
I switched out my regular Ranch dressing for a dairy-free homemade kinda-ranch dressing on Thursday (I think it was). Is that what helped the scale move? Just coincidence? I don’t know. Gonna stick with the dairy free for a while and see how it goes.  I am now 100% dairy-free except for butter, which honestly has very little in the way of lactose in it.
I still have a doctor’s appointment later this week for a checkup and to get some blood tests done to check my thyroid. If she seems the least bit competent, I’ll ask her if she knows of anywhere to get my metabolism checked.
Now I’m holding my breath, hoping the progress continues.
