I'm here, queer, and highly likely to disappear*; but here's a very unreliable introduction to this narrator.
Hi, I'm Saturn (for now at least, i think.)
I'm a black 20-something year old writer with a imagination that happens to be active at the wrong times. When I'm not writing, you'll find me struggling through classes and holding my cats in air jail for chewing on my clothes. and you probably thought a college dorm dryer was bad...
I often use music as a progression for my writing, using it to build the personality and lifes of my characters, cause I think you can tell a lot about a person with the type of music they listen to. This goes the same for food, whether they're cooking (or lack thereof), eating (which there'll a lot of and not just food), just for the sake of storytelling. Cause food can tell a story too!
You'll also see the use of Sims4 in these posts, there's nothing better to me than to be able to build my world from the ground up even if it is tedious. I often burnout myself out between both writing and building so its nice to be able to switch between the two! here's a small character visual as a start!
it's also nice to watch my characters evolve real time, they tend to outgrow some things faster than i can keep up.
As a current researching and scrappy practitioner, you will see hints of practical magic(k)/workings/information in my works. Influences from traditionally african american practices will be underlying themes in this world of mine; within my scope of course. How my characters navigate through a world that is both mundane and spiritual is something they'll have to overcome in all aspects; and how they affect future lives and timelines is all hanging on the fading tradition of storytelling.
follow, share, and embrace their stories; because there's only one way to keep them alive.
as for what i write or rather my niche: the unreliable multiverse
topics/tropes: religious deconstruction, religious trauma, witchcraft (mundane, practical, scrappy, cultural, A(A)TRs.) anti-racism/racism,politics, social structure, found family, star-crossed lovers, childhood friends to lovers, ancestral/familial secrets, morally-grey protagonists, coming of age, the anti-christ, HEA, small town horror, mental illness/disorders, philosophy.
for some these topics may be a lot, and while i want my writing to be a source of escapism...fiction will always be influenced by reality, and that is something that will be in my writing (just not to the extremes), expect CW and TWs but they will not always be there.

Aletheia:
Sanctum, place of human design created to preserve those who survived the last of nature's destruction. When humanity was suddenly reckoned with the damage of over creation they are forced to pick between two things.
Stay or leave.
For those that had the ability to leave, Sanctum embraced them with open arms; promising a generational haven within their walls. Here, the people are communities; removed from the worries of past plagues and mortal insecurities. But all peace must follow order.
Questioning the world she's grown in , Emilia Porter has wanted to escape the stone boundary of Sanctum. Taking a chance to explore the land beyond, she registers for the Vanguard; the exploration and task forces that protect and serve the lasting stand of humanity.
Now away from the containing hands of those who seek perfection, she must weigh the truths; both tailored and unwritten.

Cherries Under The Sun:
A southern gothic horror that follows Grace Davis even in her dreams. Now that her daily life of being ignored comes to halt and the lives of those around her are blurring together, they must now find a way to get their world back to normal. I don't know what else to put here, but that my characters are much like myself. Weird, witchy, creepy, romantic, sensitive, sarcastic, inquisitive (that's a big word for elmo), and a range of clumsy that only a handful of people can enjoy sooo...
IF you've found me or my wips to be interesting, please feel free to follow, ask a question or comment. Thanks for reading all this and from reader to another, create the book you've always wanted to see. Edison out!
i also don't really know how taglist work but if you wanna here's where to keep up! #theunreliableverse

as food is a big theme in my works, i'd like to have my first tag game revolve around that topic...so here are my questions for your OCs and here are how my characters lives revolve around food. Dislikes, favorites and everything in between!
the host seats these customers first! @the-golden-comet, @rumeysawrites, @lady-grace-pens, @sableglass,
@saturnine-saturneight, @helpmeimblorboing, @leave-a-message19, @leahnardo-da-veggie, @kaeru483, and we always take walk ins!
what is one comfort meal that'll change your whole mood for the day?
If cream of wheat has a million followers, I'm one of them. If cream of wheat has one follower, it's me. and god forbid cream of wheat has zero...zilch...nada followers, then i'm dead. I formally request that you bury me with several packets, milk, sugar and those tiny cups of sweet cream creamer before you lower me six feet under.
-Grace, CUTS
what is an experience (good or bad) that has turned you off or on to a food completely?
Fuck shrimp, I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I've had them come to me one to many time with the poop sack still inside. And it probably doesn't help that I went to town on a handful before i freaked out realized the mistake, at least I got a voucher for a free trip to Vegas. And what about the sister's babies, who's gonna look after them if fishermen keep catching them; the uncle already has to work a second shift to put food on the table?
Elaine -WTRB
if you could eliminate one piece of produce, meat, dairy or sweets off the earth what would it be?
Avocados...that is all.
-Clive, CUTS
and dessert is normally saved for last, but if you could what would you order for your entree at a restaurant?
Ooh, a mixed berry dump cake will always be on my order ticket. I mean how can you not enjoy the sweet jammy fruits buried under a fluffy crumble of shortbread like biscuit dough. Ugh, and then its smothered in a sweet sweet and tangy lemon icing, and maybe a little side of vanilla bean ice cream. If the lord permits, I'd have it for every meal. And no one, I mean no one compares to the one my mama makes!
-Amara, EE
and if you'd like a refill on your drinks or a to go box, here are some extras...
-what are some food fusions that should never be mixed?
-what food spot are you gatekeeping and why?
-cooking is a life skill, why haven't you started learning yet!?
-is there a smell that reminds you of something you never want to remember?
thank you to @the-golden-comet for the tag, so lets do a little dive into the worlds of Where the River Bends, Cherries Under the Sun and a wee bit into GG.
My words were destroy, sense, withhold, and underneath.
soft tagging @seastarblue, @rumeysawrites, @cowboybrunch, @lady-grace-pens, @kaeru483 and as always open tags*
your words are: grace, purpose, skip, shatter.
sense:
With an annoyed groan, Warren pecked a couple short kisses before pulling away, his thumb tracing plump reddening skin. His eyes fell to Elaine’s chest, lingering on the exposed skin flushed rising with a steady rhythm. She was warm and velvet-soft against his skin, her sugary floral scent blinding his senses.
“I guess you should get that.”
Elaine gave a soft smile with her words, in a breathy daze from the kiss. She took in his flushed form, his ears tipped red with cheeks to match; a heaving chest and a now wrinkled shirt pulled up from her grip. He looked good. Inviting even, to point where he could just pull her close and she’d be too caught up in the motions to tether herself off to safety.
When the phone went off once more, the pair gave a shared laugh before Warren stepped away with a promise to be right back, his hand reaching for his pocket. Elaine starred at his back as he exited the kitchen, his broad shoulders stretching against the fabric. Feeling heat flush back to her cheeks; she turned back to the sink attempting to relieve the dishes of their unprompted bath.
destroy:
“Confusion is the spirit of the devil, Simone! And that is why I can’t have my little girl fall into his trap. I told you, that foul demon will do anything to destroy this family, he already got to your sister. You don’t like them, you’re just confused.”
The look in his eyes told her that even trying to argue—no, that trying to get him to understand was going to be a lost cause. She blinked away her tears, nails digging into her palms.
“Of course daddy, it’ll never happen again.”
“Good. Now go and ask for forgiveness, God can only be so merciful.”
underneath: ugh, i forget about them; their story comes in so late but is really the key to this whole multiverse
So there they were, separated by wooden dividers to their respective corners of the room. Yvette was done first, the nightgown she shrugged on billowing at her ankles as she walked around to her side of the bed. She pulled the tan sheets back and fluffed her pillows before sliding underneath the threaded fabric.
They weren’t as heavy compared to the ones at home but they’d fit the job for the night; though she wasn’t sure the prince would be comfortable with such standards. Yet, he climbed in after her; tugging the sheets over his bare shoulders as his head settled against the pillows.
He hadn’t bothered to fluff them, and it perhaps was out of habit that he took the chance to take up more than his fair share of the bed. His warm skin brushed against the bare shoulder of Yvette’s body, raising the tiny hairs as goosebumps.
“Could you get any closer, your highness?
“What’s the matter? Am I not enough to warm you and the bed? Shall I invite another to share the task, perhaps one of the gentleman from the bar.”
withhold: we got half of that, but yall get the jist.
Before Warren's fingers could click one last time to cut to noise to mute-forcing them to endure a silent car ride- Elaine took his hand into her own, settling them onto her lap, her thumb caressing his skin. So wrapped up in his own silent nerves, he forgot about the woman’s next to him.
In his car. Holding his hand.
Trembling from what could be shown as both nervousness and excitement, yet still present in this moment with him. With a deep breath he calmed himself, shifting the car into reverse leaving the waving trees in the distance.
Aside from the music, the car was silent-a still beat between the lovers as the rhythm thumped through the speakers; background noise to their thoughts. The trees and other cars passed them with a blur, luck gracing them with green lights until the car was parked in front the apartment. Elaine stepped out of the car first, eager to break away from the suffocating tension.
“You can come inside whenever you’re ready. I’m sure you know your way in.”
Rules: make a moodboard with images/memes/gifs that remind you of your wip/oc but don't share the context. The funnier and outlandish the better honestly Some of these have me wheezing with laughter. Some of them make me want to bury myself in the dirt. NO CONTEXT!

new year, new me! or maybe not. either way, that doesn't just apply to me. while i had no intentions of disappearing, much like my intro post says..it happened. but in doing so i was able to kinda rehash and work on some projects that really needed it, like CUTS:
below, you'll see that the cream of the cherry crop has been given "make overs", as when I first made them I was just rushing to get them out and seen by people.
i'll come back and link most of the old posts of what they looked like before, or you can just click the tag associated with CUTS below. if you've chosen the latter, you'll some characters for other projects too. and at the moment, only CUTS and WTRB have been refreshed. but elaine and warren, along with sabryna and chris are the only ones ready for sheets.
anyways, keeping this short. Cherries Under the Sun will begin roll outs again this month, you'll see how the last months of year went for them ( and i hope to have at least 5 (total) chapters done by february) cause while this is set in the year 20whatever, i kinda want real time seasons to read along with so yeah.
for Where the River Bends, i hope to put her out around valentines day if i've being honest, or at least get the ball rolling. she's 10 chapters deep and just needs some reworking before the read along begins.
with that being said, happy new year and i hope this year allows everyone to explore things not previously possible.
While not exclusive to the southern United States, the use of cobalt blue bottles has been seen among those of the lowcountry in South Carolina and specifically for my storytelling; North Carolina. Known for its staggering and hefty jewels of glass; these trees shine with the trapped spirits of those that once roamed the dark.
Often stationed at crossroads, porches, or even just high traffic areas you will find these whispering and rattling with the spirits they've captured until the rising rays of the Sun reduce them to nothing but another ghost story.
While no one can truly point the origin of this practice, some claiming the country of Congo for its creation and others dating it back to as far as ancient Egypt and even the Mesopotamia; just know that it's history is still being continued.
For, if you are someone weary of what lurks in the dark or simply wish to not be bothered by unwanted visitors, some will tell you that it would not hurt to have a few hanging around.
