Phoe had taken off from her Daddy again, skipping down the sidewalk when she heard a scream come from the alley. A curious look on her face as she made her way down the darkened road, watching as the man forced the other into the trunk of his car. There was no fear on her features as she walked closer, eyeing the red stuff on his hands, the same she had seen on her mothers.

There are holes in’ em, Conn–“ a pause as the woman props a hip on the side of the work table, leaning in she picks up a knife pressing it slowly to watch the dent start to pool blood.

The sound of the familiar voice made her turn and a smile took over her face. It wasn’t the one she gave her coworkers, it wasn’t the one she gave customers, it was the smile she only gave this man. Placing the books she was adding back into the library database as returned on her desk, she stood and walked over to the counter, arms coming to lie on it. She glanced around for a moment, other customers milling about, the other librarians on different floors.

Phoe was used to people running into her, this was New York after all, some asshole was messing with a phone, checking out someones ass, or looking around like a fucking tourist. She didn’t even stop, walking away, already several feet away when she heard the guy yell at her. Wow, fucker. She didn’t even break stride, just raising both her hands to her head to flip him off as she made her way home.
