/okay so I've thought about this before.. like you could have people donate from tumblr and have the word spread around. But asking if I would go merely depends on the location
((I'd honestly do a Kickstarter to get it going. You typically need money upfront to organize a conference, for things like securing venues--but through a Kickstarter, your donation would come back to you in your rewards. Like once the price points were figured out, if you donated $25, that would go toward your ticket cost or something awesome, so it's like a pre-payment rather than straight-up donation.
I've run Kickstarters before too, so I have experience with that.
As for location, probably here in Denver, for a few reasons:
It's pretty central US
It's a great convention city
I live here and know a bunch of the local venues and vendors, so I could keep costs down
I'm thinking of contacting Tumblr and seeing if they'd give any kind of support, as well as trying to organize programming around the big fandoms that are on Tumblr. So it'd have elements of a Comic Con as well (which I also have connections to the Denver Comic Con, and I'm also considering seeing if they'll add a Tumblr Mini-Con to their programming if I can't get an independent convention going.))
