The Theseus in the painting is a fool and a murderer. He followed the wrong people, hurt many others (some deserved it, others didn’t), he did so many horrible things that thinking about them makes his stomach churns. The demon wants to make fun of him, doesn’t he?

He looks at Asterius. Theseus expects him to look scared and/or sad. After all, the Theseus in the painting is the one who killed him. Instead Asterius eyes are… full of love?

Okay, someone asking an alive Theseus half-jokily after the king kept bragging about how great fighting Asterius was “Are you in love with the Minotaur or something” and Theseus, blind to sarcasm, is like “AHAHAHAHAH no?? I just recognize he was a great fighter?? I respect him?? But that’s all??” but… saying that for some reason feels wrong. But he’s not lying! He really just respects him. And they met only once and that time they just fought, so it wouldn’t make sense to him to fall in love with the Minotaur. Right? Right?
