I shamefully admit that I've never been a big fan of Halloween, BUT ... I do love a great scary story any time at all. So rather than limit myself to when you all were being inundated with monsters, ghosts, and witches a few weeks ago, I thought I'd save Mercer Mayer's wonderful standby "There's Something in My Attic" (1988) for today, just as you might be starting to weary of Thanksgiving stories and be ready for something different. In this fun twist on the "monster under the bed" trope, a young girl moves into a creaky old house in the country with her parents and is sure that there's something monstrous in the attic. And she's absolutely correct. Only what an anxious, Nervous Nelly of a monster it is!! Nothing fearsome about it! As always, Mercer Mayer's illustrations provide as much of the humour as the words, and the result is a classic story worth poring over again and again despite its seeming simplicity. A great "scary" story for nervous kids!! âš« âš« âš« #noodlenutsclassickidlit #noodlenutskidsbooks #theressomethinginmyattic #mercermayer #theressomethingthere #monsterstories #ghoststories #nightmares #bedtimestoriesforkids #bedtimestories #scarystories #oldhouses #bedtime #momlife #dadlife #momsfollowmoms #childhoodfavorite #childhoodmemories https://www.instagram.com/p/B5OH3TVnAbV/?igshid=trke6kr31q5o
