The Purple Rose of Cairo. Быстрый обзор. Сказочная мелодрама. Мегомилая романтическая история про Америку 30-ых (великая депрессия). Милота прям зашкаливает. Вуди Аллен крутой режиссёр, но вот сценарии его меня заставляют скучать. Сама история классная. Несчастная в браке девушка заводит роман с героем фильма, который сошёл с экрана, а потом и с актёром, который героя играет. Актёры, картинка, всё идеально. Но эти диалоги, напичканные лёгким нытьём и бытовым трепетанием какие-то унылые. Не моё. Хотя диалог кино-героя с проститутками и финальные сцены понравились. Ну и сама концовка конечно несколько депрессивная. Типа жизнь не сахар, а кино тебя не обманет. Фильм получил груду кинонаград. She's finally met the man of her dreams. He's not real but you can't have everything. Depression era waitress Cecilia uses movies as an escape from reality, especially after losing her job. Repeat viewings of The Purple Rose of Cairo entice a character, Tom Baxter, off the screen. Third Woody Allen film I've knowingly seen, and I think I probably liked this one the best, because he isn't on screen and it isn't overly neurotic. A love note and cautionary tale about film being an escape - we always have to come back to reality. I liked how spunky and eccentric Cecilia seemed compared to everyone around her (both she and Tom are trapped in dull, dreary lives - he's literally in a black and white film, but he breaks out to help her break out, even if only temporarily) which makes her time inside the other movie a hoot, and the real ending sad when everything returns to normal. Loved the comment from the audience member that they didn't mind observing being "a student of the human personality" - that's what we the audience is doing, watching the audience watch the stalled movie. The dichotomy of movie reality vs real reality - the no fade to black or musical notes when they kiss, the champagne just being gingerale, the singers reaction to meeting Cecilia. The scene in the brothel...haha, also another one of those movies where everyone's so young: #JeffDaniels, #MiaFarrow, #DannyAiello, #GlenneHeadly, and #DianneWiest among others. A few questions though: if he appeared in real life in color and not black and white, why couldn't his money have changed into real money? and did Tom have Three love interests (the blonde, the singer And Cecilia)?
