Ἀργαλέως μοι θυμὸς ἔχει περὶ σῆς φιλότητος: οὔτε γὰρ ἐχθαίρειν οὔτε φιλεῖν δύναμαι, γινῴσκων χαλεπὸν μέν, ὅταν φίλος ἀνδρὶ γένηται, ἐχθαίρειν, χαλεπὸν δ᾽ οὐκ ἐθέλοντα φιλεῖν.
My heart’s troubled over your closeness. I can’t hate you, but I can’t love you either, knowing it’s hard, when someone’s become dear, to hate; hard too to love someone unwilling to love back.
