š for what my muse would say to the person trying to woo your muse. ~ (probably Thenel and Rhaz since those are the only ones that know each other, huh? :D... and yup, that was a blind pick!)
(Iāve been reading this prompt over forever and I still canāt get my head around the wording. So Iām just going to write this. :D)
āAnd here,ā said Thenel, pausing as he clambered over the broken wall, hoisting himself nimbly ontop of the flat roof.Ā āHere - give me your hand.ā
āI can climb,ā said Rhazar as he ignored Thenelās offer and followed his steps, clambering up the worn ledge and sitting himself by Thenelās side. He regretted the words almost at once, and paused, staring at his companion as he looked ahead.Ā āBut - thanks.ā
Thenel nodded.Ā āAs I was saying. Here, you can see the whole city,ā he said with a wave of his hand as they began to take in the view. Up here, the air was cleaner; the smog was thinner, and if you werenāt used to Slayn, it was at least, tolerable. Thenel thought it would be a place Rhazar would appreciate, or at least be able to begin to adjust to his surroundings easier. He hoped.Ā āCan breathe a bit better here. I sometimes come up here to get away. No-one comes here. Itās deserted; ruined.ā
Rhazar stared a the horizon. He stared at the silhouettes of the buildings, shrouded in the thick pink haze. He stared at the shimmer of lights. Red and white and blue and green. A plethora of colours, peering through the smog that cloyed at his skin, suffocating, choking. But not here. Here, he could breathe. Here, he felt, comfortable. And it was not just the air.
āThank you,ā said Rhazar, his voice quiet against Thenelās mind. He still stared at the city.
āFor what? This? Itā¦isnāt much,ā he said with a laugh, leaning back on his hands.Ā āBut, I like it here. Anywhere away from people is a place I like.ā
Rhazar turned, his eyes calm, watching Thenel lean back on his hands. He was often in one of two states around Rhazar; nervous or serene. He was glad it was the latter tonight.
āYou donāt mind being around me?ā The words just fell from his mind. They were meant to be silent, inward, for his own reflection. But, as he saw the flicker in Thenelās eyes; as he felt the shift in his presence, he knew they hadnāt been.
āYou - youāre different,ā he said, quietly, dipping his head, shyly.
āHow?ā asked Rhazar, simply.
At that, Thenel couldnāt answer. He sat forward, resting his hands in his lap and kept his eyes ahead. Gone was the serenity; nerves shook his aura now, and stalled his words.
āThenel?ā asked Rhazar again. But this time he reached out and pried apart his nervous, fidgety hands.
Thenel sought his companions hand and slid fingers against his, clasping them together.Ā
That, was his answer.Ā
