Questions – Askbox

1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?

I… am honestly not sure. The first stuff I actually posted was when I was… 18 or so? But I know I was playing with worldbuilding and basic plot ideas for HP fic long before then.

7) When is your preferred time to write?

Evening. After dinner onwards - it’s quieter, I don’t need to worry about food because I’ve eaten, and then I will keep writing until um. 3am. I naturally tend to be nocturnal anyway but the quiet of night is especially helpful for me and my focus.

23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?

I need music. I will often make playlists but sometimes I will just put one song on repeat and play it loud. There comes a point where the song is just… there and I bypass thinky brain and just write the emotional or action beats of the story without even having to think about it consciously. As I tend to write in a vignette or oneshot style more than multi-chapter plotted fanfic I can get away with this… so long as I remember to edit.

40) Do people know you write fanfiction?

Obviously. You do, Thekla, and then so do most of my close friends. It’s not something I really see a reason to hide when it comes to people I actually know and am friends with. Like sure don’t tell your boss you’ve written weird smutfic for friends or that you spend your free time writing fics about siblings with really unhealthy coping mechanisms but friends are friends and if you can’t talk to them about your interests then I really question the strength of that friendship. And then, ofc, there’s siblings - like you, Thekla, where… I mean we’re siblings. Siblings learn everything eventually.
