Gator mer reader is found by the 141 sanctuary in a nasty tank with minimal heat and no water. Their heart breaks at the sight of you, exhausted but still rumbling and growling defensively until Johnny can sedate you.
Transportation was easier than it should be because of your size, which makes Nikolai distressed once he gets his eyes on you. Your snout showed signs of being taped shut for long periods of time, likely so you could be pet and photographed like a display animal. When Nikolai finally got the old shed off your body, he's greeted with a brand new problem.
Masses of infection and cysts that he has to clean and cover before they can put you in an enclosure. You wake hours later, warner than you think you've ever been in years. When you peek your eye open, you can see a much larger tank than you're used to, hesitantly lifting your head to look around.
"Hi, Newbie... It looks like you're pretty banged up." You swivek your head to the sound of the voice, hearing a small gasp. "Jesus fuck, what did they do to you?" Simon rumbles protectively as he approaches.
You didn't say anything. You weren't sure what to say, but when Simon gently nudges you further into the sun, you obey. He guides you into the warm pond in the enclosure before he crawls off to find you something to eat. You weren't sure how long you would be in this nice warm place, so you settle down into the water and relax.

genuinely how are we getting jason being an angry kid from his robin comics, like where does that come from outside of classist retcons that were made for the sole purpose of victim blaming a 7th grader
i mean jason definitely got angry a handful of times…but like, so does everyone…? what? generally to be an angry kid or an angry person implies frequent bouts of excessive or unreasonable anger, which, imo at least, jason does not have as robin. like, a nervy kid? yeah ig. an anxious kid? sure! a sensitive kid? absolutely!!!! an angry kid? …no???
and this isnt me saying jason being an angry kid would be a bad thing. i think thatd be incredibly justified and reasonable given his trauma and what happens throughout his robin run. but like i dont see how you can read jasons 80s robin run and describe him as an angry kid based off his actual behavior as written in said comics. i just dont understand what canon material we’d be basing that on outside of the aforementioned classist retcons 😭
like im trying to remember a time where his anger is disproportionate or unreasonable and i just?? cant?? he gets mad at two face because he killed his dad, and mad at bruce because bruce hid that from him for MONTHS; i wouldnt call that anger unreasonable or disproportionate especially considering hes like, 10. then theres the time he loses his cool on a pimp for assaulting a woman in batman #422, and then obviously he was furious about garzonas in batman #424…and then what else? even those last 2 examples are 1. explicitly described by bruce as unusual for jason in batman #426, 2. directly after the events of batman: the cult, which traumatized bruce let alone his middle schooler, and 3. are two similar situations, and imply that, if anything, he has a specific intolerance for sexual violence/exploitation rather than general “wrong-doing”
even if you loop in pre-crisis, which most people dont but i like to, jasons anger is still relatively rare and reserved imo, and its almost exclusively related to bruce in some shape or form every time. he snaps at julia because bruce is making him stay back from robin (which is the main way he gets to spend time with bruce) to avoid arousing suspicion from her while shes staying at the manor (he also feels bad abt this right after). he runs away to the circus because bruce is too busy to spend time with him as bruce wayne and wont let him join him as batman. im sure there are other instances but like you get the point. his anger is usually related to something or someone threatening his relationship with bruce, or bruce himself. which like, again, i wouldnt call frequent, disproportionate, or unreasonable enough to label him as particularly angry. even within the narrative his anger in these moments is framed as justified and understandable. of course hes sensitive about bruces attention his parents just died, like what?? also hes 12
i just see ppl all the time that are like “jason can be both the angry and the happy robin” which like, yeah? like i said i agree with that, it would be completely understandable if he was angry at the world, but i dont understand why he has to be. i dont see how you can call him an angry kid from his behavior within the actual comics. i also resent the whole “angry robin” “happy robin” thing in general because no one is just one thing and thats a lame way to describe characters, and even if were to label jason as just one thing i dont think “angry” or “happy” really fit for him, but thats a whole other post that im not getting into rn so whatever
idk maybe im missing smth or i just have an overly-sensitive reading of him but my impression of jason just based on his robin comics has never been angry
Twitter shippers out there censoring literal character names and making shit up while pretending that Aerith and Tifa aren't equally two of the most iconic well-written female characters in video game history. Both of which contribute heavily to the story and leave a massive impact on Cloud and his journey to the point where taking either of them out of the equation would cause the narrative to fall apart.
Like you don't have to ship Clerith or Cloti but to write either of these characters off when they have objectively done literally nothing wrong is just... man.

Something I'm getting a little annoyed at in fics, is when Jason is angry because Bruce didn't kill the Joker because he killed him, or the fact that Tim had replaced him.
One thing to just say is that Jason isn't and will never be angry at or blame Bruce for not saving him. Imo, what he's angry about (in uth), is the fact that his death didn't mean or change anything. Change in terms of having a new system, where Batman doesn't just beat the Joker, throw him in Arkham until the next time he escapes. Because Jason death wasn't enough for Bruce to realise that not everyone can and want to change for the better (and yes I know that goes against his need to believe that everyone can be rehabilitated).
Jason was Bruce's son, Batman's Robin. If Jason's death wasn't enough to change this for the better, then what about all of Jokers victims? Those that die or are essentially crippled? Because by not changing how Batman operates, not changing how the rogues should be locked up/taken care of (because the 'solution' doesn't always have to be about killing them), he indirectly creates more victims. Yes he saves people. But he also continues and perhaps even worsened this vicious cycle, with Joker having crazier and crazier means of gaining Batman's attention, resulting in more and more victims.
And after a certain point these victims most certainly become a statistic, no longer a named human that had people that loved them, who had family and friends that would grief their loss. And in a way, this devaluates the severity of harm the Joker has caused. Even though as the number of victims increase and is just as harm on Batman and the others, they just became in number in all the other thousands of victims (it's the same thing when you focus on a perpetrator than the victim. It becomes ig a simple murder, and kind of erases the pain and agony the victim went through as they died).
For me, Jason is angry at the fact that if his death didn't change anything. No number of victims will ever change anything. It could be one victim, or a million. If Jason, who was Bruce's son and who Bruce cared for, having nightmares about Jason dying when he was exposed to fear toxin, did not change anything, then neither would all the other victims. Not Barbara, nor Duke. Not any Joker victim would be enough for Bruce to understand that he should change how he deals with the Joker.
And that is what Jason is angry about. Because for him, victims take priority. He doesn't care about (as much) about morality when people's lives are at stake. If a criminal does not seem like they'll change or has done an offense that can't be justified, then he doesn't see why they need 'saving', and that it's be better off if they were dead.
And if Jason had to sacrifice himself to save lives? He'd do it in a heartbeat. But what about Bruce? Yes he cares about victims, but imo at least, it feels as if the victims are not his first priority. I feel as if he cares more about the rogues than the damage they cause to citizens. Because yeah, he has the belief that everyone is capable of changing for the better, but it gets to a point where that kind of thinking does more harm than good (and yes, I know, he'd probably 'cross the line and never come back' but killing isn't the only thing he can do to prevent the rogues from making more people victims).
Also, as like a lesser reason for Jason being angry, it's the fact that Jason was taken away from Bruce. That his death, although resulted in Bruce's 'grief', meant nothing in terms of him having Tim as a Robin not long after he died. Bruce has no excuse that could justify it, it doesn't matter if he was grieving or not (and I know that Tim was the one that barged his way in, forcing himself to be Robin, but Bruce didn't try hard enough to stop a kid from entering this lifestyle).
Its not about Bruce replacing Jason with Tim, it's about his death meaning so little that they quickly get over his death, moving on without doing anything meaningful to prevent more victims from being created and having a new kid in a costume he had died in. And from the outside, it would only make sense for Jason to believe that Bruce didn't love or care for Jason in the same way Jason loved Bruce as a father. That's why Jason feels so betrayed. Because he thought Bruce had well and truly loved him, but his actions after Jason's deaths say everything to the contrary (getting rid of any traces of Jason from the manor except from his 'enshrined' room and memorial case, tarnishing his name, turning him into a cautionary warning and etc), so how was Jason to believe that Bruce loved him as a son?
I'm sure there are more reasons to explain Jason's anger towards Bruce, but these are the two main ones in my opinion (as of now) (also sorry for the long rant lol, just been on my mind a lot)
This is the most I have to offer at this time
I don't think I'll ever get over what happened to SQX (or beefleaf in general).
I have been spoiled on some stuff in TGCF but never in the blackwater arc. So when I was reading through the section, I was DEVASTATED. I had to put down the book and walk away
I couldn't get over how SQX pretty much lost everything: his family, his godhood, his close companion (???). He begged to be killed.
The bloody trauma(s) that he must be carrying???
We didn't fully know what happened to him after the blackwater arc. I was thinking maybe he went mad or something, or maybe He xuan changed his mind and just ended hin.
BUT, HE COMES BACK, smiling-- still willing to lend a hand even if he is no longer a heavenly official. He gives as much as he can in the final arc.
Like damn. the sheer strength one must have to muscle through the pain and still help your homies out.
