FINISHED SAM HARRIS' BOOK "THE MORAL LANDSCAPE TODAY" this was book 437 in the life of: me IT ALL BEGAN WITH JORDAN PETERSON he seemed to be so articulate. BUT WHAT I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND was, why he needed to connect everything to religion. NOT JUST ANY RELIGION But christianity. I FOUND A SOLUTION just switch all the religious words & phrases for their non religious counterparts. BUT THEN I SAW PETERSON VS. HARRIS and the more I saw Sam Harris sitting there CALMLY DISCUSSING & DISMANTLING JORDAN PETERSON'S ARGUMENTS It began to dawn on me. Harris just understood these issues far better, because he simply didn't need to connect everything to religion. TO ONE RELIGION So I dove into Harris. Listened to a few of his public debates ALSO WITH RICHARD DAWKINS Whose book "the Selfish Gene" I already listened to years ago AND FINALLY READ/ LISTENED TO ONE OF HIS BOOKS Not anything too surprising, his style and message throughout video, podcast is pretty consistent IN ESSENCE Morality just like everything else could and should be explored by science RELIGION IS A RELICT OF THE PAST And as we understand the human brain better and better HUMAN WELLBEING SHOULD BE OPTIMIZED With human wellbeing being defined as the outcome of a wellbeing function IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE HUMAN WELLBEING And anything that lowers wellbeing therefore is less optimal AND USING THIS METHOD We have a duty to try to do our best HERE THE BOOK https://amzn.to/3q2NyBv #themorallandscape #samharris #bookreview #morality #neuroscience #book Β https://www.instagram.com/p/CXjiU3JNl8a/?utm_medium=tumblr
