Honestly, With Pyrrha's death it's been hard to say that they're making good decisions as of late. While yes she was originally designated to die during Volume 2, If that had been the case we probably wouldn't ave cared as much as a community. But when they give her a character arc for a major season and center heavily on her, more so than Ruby for the entire season just to kill her off and give Ruby the 11th hour power while abandoning her arc... well, the phrase "opportunity squandered" fits.
